Anna & Meghann easily won their 1st Round match in Doubles against Amanda Coetzer & Silvia Farina Elia 6:3,6:2 (Match Statistics)! Next match for both probably on wednesday.

Singles...: It was well known that Anna's first round opponent would be a qualifier but as OCT_1 I also feared it would be Vera Zvonareva (Anna beat her once back on 25.10.2000 in her first match that year in Moscow 7:6,6:4)! For sure the crowd would have cheered for Vera and not for Anna :-((! But now Anna faces MIKAELIAN in the opening round, most likely tomorrow.
Both have never played vs each other before in Singles...

Ranking News: Up and down for Anna - this week one position DOWN again in Singles - 36th ranked with 969 points! In Doubles nothing changed - still 6th ranked with 2293 points. In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings absolutely NOTHING changed as well - still 31th in Singles (921 points) and in Doubles: 6th ranked with Martina Hingis (1241 points) and 18th ranked with Chanda Rubin (475 points)!

Enrique about Anna...: Just to keep you "informed"... - obviously Enrique gave an Interview for a mexican magazine called "Por Ti"! "alexs2612" translated the "important" parts into English:

Quotes: "My heart already has owner and Anna knows it very well", "When I'm with somebody, I occur completely", asked about WEDDING: "I do not know it. We have the certainty that we are living something wonderful and, at the moment, we do not want to think about anything else."

comment to upcoming events: I just want to say a few words to the upcoming events in Filderstadt and Luxembourg where I will PROBABLY see Anna LIVE again...! It is still a fact that I am in love with Anna. She is still special for me and not "just" beautiful. I am also jealous because she is hanging around with Enrique who I really hate but I did so before he was dating Anna. But overall: I am really looking forward to a few great days where I hopefully will be able to see Anna LIVE again - all trips to tournaments just to see her were unique, especially the most recent ones in Warsaw and Strasbourg this may, together with a good friend! I will definitely keep you informed about Filderstadt and Luxembourg...

Anna to play Qualifier / Doubles with Meghann
The Draw for Moscow has been released and Anna faces a QUALIFIER in the opening round (hopefully not Zvonareva or Mikaelian). This match will take place on tuesday or wednesday since that Qualifying is still ongoing on monday.
Anna's 2nd round opponent would be most likely MARTINA HINGIS, the former World Number 1 and her good friend. AND: THIS match was the Singles Final 2 years ago, Anna's 3rd WTA Singles Final! Singles Main Draw

Doubles with Meghann: This is a little surprise - Anna DOESN'T PLAY DOUBLES WITH MARTINA HINGIS (Martina doesen't play Doubles at Moscow at all), Anna is playing with Meghann Shaughnessy and are seeded 2nd! Their first opponents are Amanda Coetzer/Silvia Farina Elia - Full Doubles Draw

ANNA NOT IN MOSCOW???? / new Domains for AKFS
Wouldn't this be a true nightmare???? For sure. Read the moscowtimes.com-article and especially turn your focus to THESE lines:
"...will almost certainly not play..."! WHY??
The tournament organizers decided to give Anna NO WILDCARD into the main draw!!! WHY?? WHY?? WHY?? The say that this decision was made due to her low Ranking throughout 2002!!!! Ridiculous, just ridiculous!

BUT: There is still a chance that Anna can get a Wildcard due to her "Gold Exempt"-status! ONE Wildcard into the main draw is given to "Gold/Silver Exempt Player" by the WTA. This is a little bit complicated: Lindsay Davenport is higher ranked in the "Gold Exempt 2002"-List and therefore if no player withdraws from the main draw in Moscow (Bedanova is likely since she retired in Leipzig a few days ago) Lindsay will most likely get this Wildcard.
But IF a player (Bedanova for example) withdraws then Lindsay will take this main draw-spot and the "Gold/Silver Exempt"-Wildcard will most likely go to Anna!!!

Isn't this absolutely ridiculous??? Moscow is Anna's hometown!! Wake up, you F***ing tournament organizers. Anna ALWAYS played the Kremlin Cup if not sidelined due to Injury (1999) and even reached the Singles AND Doubles Final back in 2000! And now??? Now you guys refuse to give Anna one of the two Wildcards and Anna has to hope that she gets the "Gold/Silver Exempt"-Wildcard by the WTA!!!
Anna, my advice: Don't come back to Moscow - they don't deserve your participance and obviously don't care whether you are playing in your hometown's tournament or not! RIDICULOUS MOSCOW-GUYS :-((((((((

"possible" reason for late Moscow-entry
Well, I was just scanning through the Sanex WTA Rules for Gold & Silver Exempt Players and I found THIS:
"All Gold Exempt Players may enter Tournaments late after the Official entry deadline up until the Qualifying sign-in deadline or in no Qualifying, by 4:00pm the Friday prior to the start of the tournament." (Point 6.b)
The official entry deadline for the Kremlin Cup (as well as for Filderstadt etc.) was weeks ago as far as I know BUT: Anna IS a "Gold Exempt Player" already this year so this rule applies to her. So the question is:
WHEN IS THE QUALIFYING SIGN-IN DEADLINE for the Kremlin Cup??? I assume it is tomorrow so we REALLY should DEFINITELY know that Anna plays at Moscow within the next few hours!!!!

Anna on Luxembourgs' entry list / "gold exempt status" for Anna in 2003 & official Rules
At least Anna appears right now on O N E of the upcoming tournament's websites - Luxembourg! As you can see Anna is seeded 8th at this Tier III-tournament (October 21-27) at the end of the 2002 season (afterwards only 1 week with 1 TierIV-tournament in Surabaya (INA) and then the season-ending Championships in Los Angeles, CA). I definitely intend to attend this tournaments and looking forward to see Anna L I V E again :-))))
The question mark remains: Will she play Moscow and Filderstadt??? Neither on the Messageboards (official | wtaworld) nor on the tournament websites (Moscow | Filderstadt) Anna appears on the entry lists but I am still hoping that this will change the next few days.

"gold exempt status" for Anna in 2003: Anna has been given "gold exempt status" for 2003 by the WTA - this means that she will get UNLIMITED WILDCARDS - just like this year!

This is a very comfortable for Anna but I highly doubt that she needs as many wildcards to enter the Main Draws of the big tournaments (like Miami or Indian Wells and Tier I-tournaments in general) next year. She improved her Singles Ranking from 71 (beginning of 2002) to 35 (this week) and I am sure that Anna will climb up the Singles Rankings more positions until the 2002 seasons ends in 5 weeks!

Ranking News
Anna didn't play last week but she improved her Singles Ranking by one spot and is now ranked 35th with unchanged 969 points. In Doubles nothing changed - Anna still 6th with 2293 points. THIS week Anna loses 1 point because she doesn't play Leipzig like she did last year (lost in 1st Round vs Myskina in 3 sets). In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna is now ranked 31th in Singles (921 points) and in Doubles she's positioned 6th with Martina (1241 points) and 18th with Chanda Rubin (475 points)!

HOPEFULLY Anna will start her season-ending Europe-trip tomorrow. I think she will attend Enrique's Miami-concert tomorrow and then she'll fly towards Moscow - that's what I HOPE she does. FILDERSTADT (October 7-13) is my one and only chance to see her in Germany this year...

Hamburg-tournament sold :-((( / Anna about Binge's song / Virginia Beach concert & STATEMENT
Once Germany had great players with Becker and Graf but NOW even big tournaments are sold. First big one: Betty Barclay Cup in Hamburg (Anna played there once back in 2000, lost in QF vs Martina Hingis)! I wanted to attend this tournament in 2001 and 2002 - but Anna didn't show up anymore and now this tournament has been SOLD :-((((!
Who bought it?? I have read that the tournament has been sold for $ 2.3 Mio. to Philadelphia!

Anna about Binge's song: Interesting new info - the writer of the "Anna Kournikova"-song, John Macom, met Anna in a surprise meeting in a Manhattan hotel, one day after Anna was ousted from the US Open. This is the most interesting part:

Well, now Anna suddenly admits that Enrique is her boyfriend - why didn't she do that before and kept it secret??? Just a question which popped up in my mind. I don't like the song very much but in general it is still better than Enrique's crap!

Virginia Beach concert & STATEMENT: I don't know if Anna attended Enrique's latest concerts in Charlotte and Raleigh but tonight he's giving a concert at Virginia Beach and perhaps you can see her there.

STATEMENT: I don't really think that Anna is STILL "on Tour" with Enrique (should just mean attending his concerts once in a while) because she is a professional tennis player and also has to practise. I am quite sure that she is working out with Solomon. I also think that Anna will fly towards Moscow maybe in the middle of next week (Enrique gives a concert in Miami on tuesday so I assume she will be there and afterwards fly to Moscow)!

As far as I know Anna will play her last tournaments of the year in Moscow, Filderstadt (I really hope she'll get a wildcard SOON), Zurich, Luxembourg! HOPEFULLY she play a solid Indoor season and perhaps is able to advance to her 5th Singles Final - or perhaps even grab her 1st Singles Trophy :-))) We have to stay optimistic!

Body language analysis: I've found THIS at the Enrique Iglesias Website-Fanboard, posted by "amorenrique23". He obviously studied communication studies! So THIS is what he has to say about what the BODY LANGUAGE tells about the relationship between Anna and Enrique (personally I also think that HE doesn't really LOVE Anna):

ANNA USUALLY HAS HER HANDS STRAIGHT AT THE SIDE OF HER, SHE DOESNT FIGIT, WHICH MEANS SHE IS VERY VERY CONFIDENT AND SHE NEVER HAS HER HEAD DOWN ALWAYS UP, WHICH MEANS SHE IS QUIET DOMINANT AND DOES NOT DOUBT HERSELF-IN OTHER WORDS SHE BELIIEVES SHE IS ABOVE THE REST OF THE UNIVERSE. SHE TILTS HER HEAD AND LIFTS HER SHOULDERS, SAYING THAT SHE IS IN LOVE WITH HER SELF AND WANTS TO MAKE SURE THAT SHE IS SEEN. SHE NORMALLY HAS HER HEAD SIDEWAYS, THIS IS ONLY SEEN IN VERY YOUNG KIDS AND ONLY WHEN THEY ARE VERY SPOILT AND TANTRUM PRONE(ANNA IS FAMOUS FOR HER TANTRUMS!)

ENRIQUE'S PERSONALITY FORM HIS BODY LANGUAGE:

HE IS A GENTLE AND REPRESED PERSON. HE NORMALLY HAS HIS HEAD DOWN NOT UP SHOWING A FEMININE SIDE TO HIM. HE (ON INTERVIEWS) GAZES INTO THE INTERVIEWERS EYES WHEN THEY ARE TALIKING TO HIM WHICH SHOWS THAT HE IS VERY INTERESTED IN OTHER PEOPLE-AND IS ALWAYS TRYING TO UNDERSTAND OTHERS POINT OF VIEWS. HE WATCHS HIS MOVES SHOWING THAT HE IS SELF-CONSCIOUS AND EVEN SHY. HE USUALY LOOKS AROUND HIM A LOT SHOWING HE IS AWARE OF PEOPLE AND IS CONSCIOUS OF WHAT THEY THINK OF HIM. HE IS ALMOST INSECURE AND NEEDS REASURANCE, HE'S BODY IS ALWAYS UNCOMFORTABLE, SHOWING HE CRAVES TO BE WITH SOMEONE AND IS MORE COMFORTABLE IN A LOVING-EMOTIONAL RELATIONSHIP-THAN ALONE. HE STANDS SIDWAYS ON ONE LEG NOT UP STRAIGHT SHOWING HE RELATES MORE TO WOMEN THAN TO MEN, WHICH IS WHY HE SEEMS LIKE A WOMANISER. I know why I HATE Enrique no matter if that gossip is true or not - reportedly he was spotted in a japanese restaurant in Los Angeles together with 5 models. ALL of these girls were fascinated by Enrique, they were kissing his neck and later Enrique reportedly left the location hand in hand with model Estella Warren. read more at bild.de

Like I said - whether this is true or not I HATE Enrique and I pray that Anna will find out soon that he is definitely NOT truly in love with her!

IOC-guy vs Anna?: I just got the information from german videotext-pages - RIDICULOUS! According to this news, IOC-vice Dr. Thomas Bach talked about Anna in a very bad manner. He reportedly said: "It's kind of not to explain for me that she earns so much money just because of her outer appearance!" (rough translation) Furthermore he added that she has been dramatically beaten by every good player and he critizised that companies are lining up to get their contracts signed by Anna! Everything apparently happened in Cologne on a meeting from the IOC!

Anna on Tour with Enrique: Well, from an unemotional point of view THIS behaviour is nothing but natural and human. Enrique is her boyfriend, at least SHE loves him (I will always be doubtful about his feelings for her, sorry) and therefore she spends some time with him on his numerous concerts throughout North America!

The Facts: According to the "Hero for an hour"-report by the Ottawa Sun Anna attended Enrique's concert in the Corel Centre in Ottawa on wednesday (September 18 / she just left Shanghai on tuesday afternoon towards San Francisco...)! Reportedly Security personnel escorted Anna on her way in and also cleared a large area for Anna to step out and groove to the beats.

upcoming: It isn't difficult to predict that Ottawa most likely wasn't the last concert from Enrique where Anna was in attendance as well - so I decided to give you a few more concert-dates of Enrique's current tour:

THE WHOLE ENRIQUE&ANNA-issue still makes me sad - mainly because I am simply jealous - I have no problem to admit that! On the one hand I am happy because Anna is apparently happy but on the other hand I am jealous because she doesn't love me (but I am matured enough to KNOW that this is impossible) and I am not her boyfriend! Plus: I absolutely don't like Enrique, it would be something else (at least a little bit) if I could like her boyfriend! I assume that it will ALWAYS be this "on the one hand...on the other hand"-thing when it comes down to Anna's boyfriends :-(((((((((((((((((((

Don't forget those like me Anna who have been looking forward to go to Leipzig to see you...and now you are spending time with your boyfriend! Once again: On the one hand absolutely understandable but on the other hand just sad for guys like me!

"Sexy Anna for your home": I don't know exactly what is going on but RTL "punkt12" (german TV show) just showed a report that Anna's Fitness video "Basic Elements" will go on sale at the end of September 2002!!!!! I have just this explanation (original sale start was on June 4, 2001 in the UK and late in September 2001 in North America): This must be the official sale start exclusively in Germany - with german subtitles (OH NO)!!!!!!

Sponsor's in control of Anna's schedule???: This is probably a quite hard "speculation" but I read the article by "digital_roby" where he said that Anna MAINLY came to Shanghai not to play at this little known Tier IV-tournament but to take part in Omega's celebrations on September 15+16, 2002! Well, neither he nor I nor anybody else than ANNA knows IF there is any truth in it and I really don't want to spread any rumours here.

I think I know that Anna really LOVES Tennis - I have seen her numerous times on various locations and i.e. in Strasbourg there weren't any sponsor appointments for her as far as I know - but Anna played this "little" tournament because she wanted to play! Anna has a lot of contract and one of the biggest beside Adidas and Lycos is the one with Omega she signed in September 2000. She earns a lot of money and of course Omega wants her to endorse their products (watches) from time to time. In general I have no problems anymore with that - as long as Anna is planning her tournament schedule on her own and not that she plans tournaments around her sponsor appointments!

"digital_roby" posted some insight informations from Shanghai and especially Omega's impact on Anna's participance in the chinese tournament at the official messageboard ("The Tennis" > "Inside of Polo Open Shanghai"-Thread)! In the bottomline he stated THIS:

"Anna said she will not have any tounement for two weeks."

In general, times are over when I believed anything what was written by anybody but I believe THIS. She didn't fly towards Europe, she flew back "home" to San Francisco, most likely into her multi-million villa where she is living together with Enrique if THAT story is true! Who knows...!
Over the past few days despite all this "She won't play here this year"-comment from the Leipzig tournament-staff and everything else I ALWAYS still hoped that she might enter Leipzig within the last few days. But NOW all hope is gone and I realize that I don't need to get up early on sunday morning to jump into my car and drive to Leipzig like I did last year - because she simply won't be there this year :-((((((((((((

Most of you voted for "great performance, many semis"! Well, in general this was the case! Anna played 5 hardcourt-tournaments throughout the summer and reached 1 semifinal (San Diego vs Dokic) and 1 Final just a few days back in Shanghai. Of course I may also not forget to mention her disastrous play at the US Open vs Angelique Widjaja! For sure Anna's worst-ever match where she even seemed to be MOTIVATIONLESS!!!
Personally, I am satisfied with this hardcourt-season, not overwhelmed by her outstanding Tennis but satisfied in general. Overall she was able to climb up the Rankings and Anna also could beat a few top20 players like Sugiyama last saturday in Shanghai! Let's see what the year-ending Indoor-season will bring!

Right now NOTHING matters more to me than THIS question!! WHERE will Anna start her year-ending Indoor-season???
- Will it be in Moscow?
- Will it be in Filderstadt?
- Will she commit to play Bali in the last remaining days?

Well, one word to that: Yes it is true - I intended to go to ALL 3 german tournaments but Anna wasn't there :-(! Nevertheless I got to see her LIVE by travelling to Warsaw and Strasbourg in May. I had to drive a little bit more far but these trips definitely are unforgettable (thanx to my friend as well once again)! If Anna won't play Leipzig this year I will definitely be in Filderstadt (if she plays there which is very very likely) and I also intend to travel to Luxembourg and perhaps Zurich! I just need to see her because she is special - and IF it is possible for me to take leave and the tournament location isn't out of reach for me I will be there!

OH NO! I don't know why Anna once again wasn't able to win - she did beat Smashnova the previous 2 times, just a few weeks ago! But this was the Final and not a 1st or 2nd Round - she LOST in straight sets. For sure she was struggling with nerves ONCE again but I think we also have to keep in mind that with playing Singles and 3-set-Doubles-match yesterday she was simply a bit tired as well - more soon!

16th Doubles Title: NO, the 15.09.02 isn't a 2nd 29.10.2000 - ANNA AND JANET WON THE DOUBLES TITLE in Shanghai - both defeated Fujiwara/Sugiyama 7:5,6:3 - great effort Anna!
This is Anna's 16th career Doubles Title and her 2nd this year. Janet Lee is Anna's 6th Doubles partner she won Titles with!

where next?: Shanghai is over, Toyko (Tier II) and Quebec (Tier III) ist next week but Anna didn't enter any of those events. So I assume that it is pretty sure that she will take one week off right now. But then??? LEIPZIG, BALI OR 2nd WEEK OFF???? I live in Germany and so I am still hoping that she will accept the Wildcard which was offered to Anna by the tournament organizers months ago! PLEASE Anna, the last 3 years you played here and it is also the perfect startup-tournament for the Indoor season.

Anna advanced to the Singles as well as Doubles Final in Shanghai - will we really see Anna's first Singles tournament-victory in China????? HOPEFULLY. Anna did beat Ai Sugiyama 6:4,7:5 and now she will face Anna Smashnova in the Singles Final :-))))))))) In Doubles - Anna and Janet defeated Li/Sun 2:6,6:4,6:4 - GREAT effort Anna. I am so proud of you!!!

Anna, I am really really happy although this is "just" a Tier IV-tournament. I cheer for you! PLEASE GOD - Anna deserves her first Singles Title!!!!

HOPEFULLY a) Anna wins and b) Miho Saeki wins as well - WHY?? Remember the most legendary match with the most amazing atmosphere ever: Australian Open 1999, 2nd Round: Anna defeated Miho Saeki 1:6,6:4,10:8 after 2h30min!!! Anna committed 32 unforced errors but, was leading 5:0 in the 3rd set. The crowd created an atmosphere like in a huge soccer stadium and this day, January 21, 1999, was definitely the day I fell in love with Anna. I will never forget this unique match, this unique day and therefore I'd love to see this match Anna vs Saeki - more than 2 1/2 years after this outstanding day for me...

which tourney(s)?: I just want to focus on the 2 upcoming weeks! Next week (September 16-22) Anna can either play the Princess Cup in Tokyo (Tier II, many top players) or the Bell Challenge in Quebec City, Canada (Tier III, unlikely because half around the globe from Shanghai)! Of course Anna has also the option to take a week off!
The following week (September 23-30) is VERY important for me of course because it's Leipzig-week in Germany, Sparkassen Cup (Tier II, Serena Williams top-seeded - tough draw). The only other tournament this week are the Wismilak International in Bali (Tier III, weaker field)! The 3rd option for Anna would be to take either this week off as well or to play next week and take just this Leipzig-/Bali-week off before playing at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow (start: September 30)!

Personally, I was never SOOO irritated than this year. Playing Shanghai straight after the US Open was sth. I had never expected and I really don't know if it still makes sense to hope for Leipzig with Anna! ANYTHING is possible - 2 weeks off until Moscow but also Tokyo and Bali! I just don't know but one reason for Anna to play Leipzig should be that the European Indoor season starts - why should she decide to play 2 more Hardcourt Outdoor-tournaments (Tokyo, Bali)???

Anna beats Zheng / record vs QF-opponents / insight Story
First of all SORRY - Anna vs Zheng wasn't already the Quarterfinal-match, it was the 2nd Round-match! But Anna beat Jie Zheng 6:4,7:6 and NOW she is in the Quarterfinals of the SVW Polo Open in Shanghai! Great effort Anna: She was down 2-5 in the 2nd set but could hold her serve twice to break back and finally she won the Tiebreak to win in 2 sets. She didn't drop a set so far on chinese soil :-)
Anna's Quarterfinal-opponent will be either Jelena Kostanic or Silvia Talaja and the match will take place tomorrow, most likely once again in the early afternoon!

WOW - due to the time difference (CET +6 hours) Anna has already played her first Doubles match in Shanghai!!! She teamed up with Janet Lee for the first time ever - and both did beat the Zanetti sisters (Anna never ever faced them before) in a tough match 4:6,6:2,6:1! Great Anna!

Singles 1st-schedule: Have you ever heard anything about Mireille Dittmann??? Me neither but this girl is Anna's 1st Singles-opponent in Shanghai and this will probably be tomorrow! This will be Dittmann's 3rd WTA main draw match so hopefully Anna will be able to play much much better against her than against Widjaja which was probably really her worst Singles match ever. Ranking News: Anna lost one position again in Singles (after this "blackout" vs Widjaja totally agree with that) - 38th ranked with 873 points. In Doubles she could move up one spot again because she reached the US Open-QF with Martina - 8th ranked again with 2181 points. Finally the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings: Well, the Widjaja-defeat moved her down 7 positions in Singles (34th with 823 points) and her QF-Doubles-points improved her Doubles Ranking. ATTENTION: sanexwta.com now only features the Team Ranking - and there: The Pair Anna/Hingis is currently ranked 6th (1241 points) and the pair Anna/Rubin is currently ranked 17th (475 points)!

After their hard fought 3rd Round-victory in Doubles Anna and Martina have little time to recharge their batteries - TODAY both are scheduled to play against the 2nd seeded Ruano-Pascual/Suarez!!! Not a good sign??? Anna lost to BOTH in Singles this year (twice against Ruano-Pascual)...but this shouldn't be really important because this is Doubles.
But: Ruano-Pascual/Suarez have already won 5 (!) tournaments THIS year: Bogota, Acapulco, Rome, ROLAND GARROS (!!!!) and Montreal! As you can see - 4 out of 5 of these tournaments are played on clay but now they are playing on hardcourt so I think Anna and Martina have a very good chance to beat the 2nd seeded pair!

But I already read in the german "Tennismagazin" that she WILL enter Filderstadt. I think that Anna's final 2002-tournaments will be: Shanghai - Tokyo or Leipzig (HOPEFULLY Leipzig!!!) - Moscow - Filderstadt - Zurich - (maybe Luxembourg again) - Doubles at Tour Championships!

"Spice Girls" win 3-set match :-)))
Another tough 3-set-win for Anna and Martina which makes me VERY happy of course! Both took the first set 6:4 but Rubin/Zvereva came back to win the 2nd set 6:3! In the final set the "Spice Girls" were able to close it out to win 6:4,3:6,6:3 and book a place in the Doubles Quarterfinal of the year's final Grand Slam :-)))))))))))))))) See the Match-Statistics

Doubles 3rd Round today / Poll-result / report
RAIN, RAIN, RAIN! What is going on at New York this year??? Anna and Martina are scheduled to play their Doubles 3rd Round match today - see today's full schedule:

Armstrong stadium - start: 11:00 am local (17:00 CET)

Grabb/Reneberg vs Flach/Seguso
Navratilova/Paes vs Callens/Koenig
Davenport vs Bovina
Kournikova/Hingis vs Rubin/Zvereva

I assume that the match starts at approx. 4:00-5:00 pm CET (22:00-23:00 CET)! So there is a slight chance that Eurosport could show this match but I doubt this because it is "just" a Doubles match! HOPEFULLY it won't rain today again like throughout previous days.

Anna & Martina still not today / Anna upset about Enrique's behaviour / Anna on shopping tour / kournikova.com gets worse
Anna and Martina meet Natasha Zvereva and Chanda Rubin in Doubles 3rd Round tomorrow. Look at tuesday-schedule as soon as it is released!

Anna upset about Enrique's behaviour: At the VMA-show Anna reportedly was VERY upset about Enrique's behaviour backstage with Kylie Minogue (they presented an award together). Reportedly he wrote down Kylie's phone number and as soon as Anna saw this she screamed out loud and threw words to him which are, well, hard to write down here! This story was publised by the MIRROR today, you find "ANNA IN RAGE" ("Anna im Wut-Rausch") in BILD as well (what a surprise) and at sundaymail!

This is what you can read in german Videotext-pages:
- RTL page 138: "Tennis-Beauty Anna Kournikova (20) made a huge scene towards her boyfriend Enrique Iglesias (26) because he behaved too 'friendly' towards Kylie Minogue (34). According to 'Mirror' there was a very loud dispute between both backstage during the MTV's VMA as Kournikova saw how Iglesias was writing down Minogue's phone number. Iglesias was alone with Kylie for just 10 minutes but apparently he was 'totally impressed'."
- PRO7 page 438: "...After that she, according to the 'Mirror', really 'cleaned the floor' with him. After that both calmed down again."
- VIVA page 113: "His REAL girlfriend, tennis star Anna Kournikova, came up with a stage-worthy explosion in front of him. An eyewitness: 'She threw things at his head we barely know how to spell them properly'."

MY THOUGHTS: Anna has made it - DEFINITELY - into the gossip columns! NOW I believe most of this "crap" because hey: We all saw them both at the VMA's, right?! I remember one thing: As James Brown was on stage in the beginning and everybody stood up you could see how Enrique was saying "Baby" or something in Anna's direction, she looked at him and I don't know why but THIS scene showed me enough (not to mention the "great" "LAP DANCE"-picture...) about both! Anna seems to love this guy. Critics will never consider her to be a serious tennisplayer EVER again (Widjaja-"perfomance" vs VMA-"Lap dance"...) and like "oldsea_2" posted: "I think in the next few months we will see many photos like these"!!

Anna on shopping tour: Obviously Anna was on a shopping tour around New York's trendiest stores - she reportedly spent a LOT of money...more

kournikova.com gets worse: I begin to worry about Anna's official website. LOOK AT THE START PAGE!!! What has THIS still to do with a tennisplayer's website??? Binge's "Anna Kournikova"-CD is advertised in a big way, Links to Swimsuit-stuff since months, still the link to vote for "Escape" on TRL etc.! Tennis-news become an exception!!!! This is heading in a bad direction and makes me sad. THIS IS ANNA'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE, don't forget that!!!!

Anna & Martina still not today / THX EUROSPORT / Binge's "Anna Kournikova"-clip / Final conclusion
Anna and Martina meet Natasha Zvereva and Chanda Rubin in Doubles 3rd Round but still not today - schedule for monday, September 2! Both definitely would play today if there wasn't so much rain yesterday!!

THX EUROSPORT: Normally match play should start at 17:00 CET yesterday (11:00 am local) but due to unstoppable rain matches had to be postponed over and over again! Finally at about 22:00 CET (4:00 pm local) Eurosport decided to show Doubles 2nd Round from Anna & Martina :-))))) Great decision Eurosport, highly appreciated!!!!
What I saw was probably the most relaxed match ever from Anna. Both hadn't had any problems with their opponents at all plus Anna performed really well. I was not the only one who is constantly surprised how this gap between her Singles and Doubles performances is possible - the TV commentator was surprised as well! Negatively interesting: During the 1st game of 1st set someone shouted "GO ENRIQUE" and what did Anna do??? She briefly smiled, Martina did so as well. I cannot confirm whether she was singing during a changeover or not because Eurosport always had commercial breaks! But she was drinking Diet Pepsi! Anyway: GREAT 45 minutes, please more from Doubles.

The song is "old" but now US band "Binge" has also put a video together - with "rare footage" from Anna's 2002 calendar shoot in Acapulco (well known pictures from the Eurosport-Special from December 2001). Final conclusion: I just want to say that I am kind of happy because Anna seems to be happy with Enrique. It makes me a little bit happy, although it should make me MORE happy, I know! I admit that I am jealous although it is ridiculous - unfortunately this feeling is there. In the end I have to live with whatever Anna decides to do - either accept it or I should quit being a fan of her. That's all I still wanted to say about the whole VMA-story including this picture I displayed below during the last few days.
