Anna faces Wildcard and plays Doubles
Anna will meet Galina Fokina, a young russian girl, in the 1st round of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow next week! She also teames up again with Martina Hingis with who she trained in Bad Ragaz (Switzerland) before she came to Leipzig! Their first opponents will be Klara Koukalova & Alena Vaskova and Anna and Martina are seeded 2nd!
Annas 2nd Singles match since San Diego might be tough for her once again but I think that we will see a victorious Anna! In the 2nd Round Anna would face either Lina Krasnoroutskaja or Jelena Dokic. Both would be very tough opponents for Anna but nothing is impossible!

Anna felt a "little bit sore" . . .
Oh no! I don't spread false rumors here, this is what Anna said - "It was much better than in San Diego. It just feels a little sore" - I saw today Interview-Cuts on 3 TV Channels - I saw an Anna who is aware of the danger of getting injured again, that's for sure the reason why she didn't play doubles in Leipzig! I am convinced that if she feels more pain in her left foot she will cancel Moscow next week. This is a worst-case scenario I don't even want to think about but it is possible! Hopefully her foot is healed enough that she can play the upcoming weeks, tomorrow perhaps further news on that topic!

Anna needs more match experience
Anna said after her 3-set-loss vs A.Myskina: "I have played my second match in 8 months. It's not easy to be on the court again after such a long break. Sometimes I felt like a newcomer. But I am happy that my foot is okay and I will continue to work hard to get back to old shape. Of course I wanted to win. Most important for me is that my foot don't causes problems during the next weeks. Then I soon will be able to play better tennis."
After her loss Anna was the centre of attention again - the german sports magazine "Bravo-Sport" presented to her the "Golden Otto"-Award for the "most wanted female athlete" - this election took place at the end of 2000 and Anna won this with almost double the nominees than the "Silver Otto"-winner received! My opinion: Anna will win this election once again this year!

Anna lost vs. Myskina in a tight fight
As expectedy by me it was a close fight and Anna played really good! You have to recognize that this was just her 2nd Singles match after February 9,2001!!!!!! Especially in the 2nd set Anna played solid, showed her all-round game,made good points at the net and forced Myskina to make mistakes. But in the end Myskina was able to break Anna in the 3rd set and won this first encounter with Anna, the score: 4-6,6-3,3-6!
Next Tournament for Anna will be the Kremlin Cup in Moscow starting next week!
one personal note from me: I am frustrated although Anna performed well after being sidelined for so long! BUT: I was able to drive to Leipzig tomorrow again and so I hoped and prayed but it shouldn't be! Bad luck, really bad bad luck. Well,perhaps I can see her again in Filderstadt! Thanx god that she didn't reinjured herself like after San Diego!

Anna plays tomorrow / BILD:Sergej going to jail? / Anna about terror attacks against the United States
Anna will face Anastasia Myskina tomorrow in the 2nd Round of the Sparkassen Cup in Leipzig, Germany! Anna doesn't play Doubles which I think is a good decision - a slow comeback that her foot can get used to the pressure of competitive matches again! I am convinced that this match will be the "Match of the Day" tomorrow and so it will be aired at 18:30 CET on Eurosport!

States: Yesterday Anna gave autographs for about 1 hour and
also posed for photos with her fans! After that Anna
went on to sign a book which is for the terror
victims of America! Annas comment about that: "As
everybody I was shocked and totally stunned about
the terror strike against the United States. I feel
with the Americans. Of course i keep myself informed
about all the news about this topic and it's not easy
to play professional tennis in these days as never

Anna now #8 seeded player, 1st match on wednesday or thursday
Yesterday I was in Leipzig! I saw Anna training and I can just say that she seems totally fit and also absolutely happy to be able to play again. She trained together with Tulyaganova (I think so, don't know exactly) and her foot seems to be fully fit again!She was smiling very often and trained for approx. 45 minutes! After that she signed some autographs (unfortunately I wasn't one of the lucky guys) and walked away through the hall to the Players Lounge. It was an overwhelming day for me to see her again after almost one year (1.11.2000) - Anna, I wish you the best for Singles tomorrow and stay healthy!

Latest news - Shaughnessy decided not to play and therefore Anna is the 8th seeded player and doesn't play against Farina anymore - she receives a BYE in the 1st round and will most likely meet Majoli in the 2nd Round either on Wednesday or Thursday!

Anna has practised at 14:00 CET in Leipzig
Thanx MDR (TV Channel in Germany) - they showed a report about the local Tennis Grand Prix - the qualifying! They also showed a long interview with Jana Kandarr but, most important, they showed ANNA - she stood in a hallway or sth. like that, her mother at her side and another girl I haven't seen before! Anna was wearing black Adidas sportswear and you could hear her voice a little bit. Info from the commentator: She has trained today after breakfast at about 14:00 CET!
If you get this TV channel (also via Astra satellites) I recommend to watch "MDR aktuell", they definitely will feature the Sparkassen Cup throughout the week!
The main draw will be released tomorrow! Henin, Testud and Serena Williams have withdrawn so chances have increased for Anna to get seeded!

Anna IS in Leipzig!!!
CONFIRMED - Anna is in Leipzig, according to this news published on lvz-online.de -
"Great that Anna comes" said a relieved Henner Ziegfeld [tourney director] this evening. "She is on her way travelling by car." A Mercedes-Limousine picked up Anna Kournikova at Zurich Tournament and chauffeured her to Leipzig's Lindner Hotel yesterday late evening. The Russian did not want go by plane - but she had no problem to travel in a car.
Ok, the Zurich-Tournament-Info is wrong, I guess they meant Bad Ragaz where she was training with Martina! Well,this is wonderful wonderful that Anna obviously gives her comeback in Leipzig, unfortunately I am not able to be there live because of my regular work! Anyway: I think we can't expect too much from her, perhaps she wins her first singles match, perhaps not. The most important thing is that her foot stays healthy! That's all what counts!

Leipzig-Comeback more and more probable / Anna in music video?
It really seems that Anna plans her comeback in Leipzig next week! According to a sport1.de-article she has booked a physiotherapeut (I guess they mean that she has her own one) and a room in a hotel in Leipzig! This would mean that probably on Saturday/Sunday Anna will fly to Leipzig from Bad Ragaz. I don't know when the main draw will be released, have a look at the official tournament website to get the latest news and of course here where I will keep on informing you as soon as possible!

Anna is training in Switzerland with Martina!!
Finally very good and promising news - Anna is training with her good friend Martina Hingis in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland! Both are training there for about one week already and Anna said:"My foot is feeling better and better. Perhaps I already play in Leipzig"! What great news! But her mother added: "The foot keeps on swelling up under pressure. We decide day by day when Anna comes back."! Well, not so good news and it reminds me on the statements of Dr. Hoerterer - "3 months recovery at least"...! I just hope that Anna knows what she does - another too-early-comeback could lead to career-threatening injury...! Be aware of that Anna, please!

Will Anna return to the Tour in Leipzig?
In 1 week the main draw starts playing in Leipzig, Germany at the Sparkassen Cup! Right now it is totally unclear if Anna will return to the tour there or not! Perhaps she is still not 100% fit, perhaps she is but is afraid to fly with a plane after this incredible terroristic attack in New York and Washington last Tuesday! Who knows? We just have to wait and see but I think that Anna will play if she doesn't withdraw until Thursday/Friday! I pray that she plays in Leipzig because I would be probably able to see her again - for the first time since November 1, 2000 - also in Leipzig...!

ITF's new Rules, a book and does the Playboy wants Anna???
New rules in 2002: After the annual meeting of the ITF this was said: There will 3 different ball types which will be chosen according to the surface! And the really stupid decision which is hopefully not true: Instead of playing the decisive sets (3rd or 5th) there will be a "Super tie-break" - the first player who reaches 10 points and has a margin of 2 points wins the match - are we on the senior tours of the men???
Other news: In the sport1.de-Forum occured rumors that the PLAYBOY Photo Director said he offered Anna the biggest sum of money in the history of the magazine. The report also says that he is in contact with Annas management and Anna would be thinking about the offer...!Well, my opinion: Totally untrue because I highly doubt that Anna will ever take off her clothes completely for pictures!
Last but not least - Susan Holdon has written a book about Anna! I don't know what is it about (biography or whatever) but I know where you can order it (simply enter "Anna Kournikova" into the search engine)!

Incredible terroristic attack against USA / Anna confirms to play Zurich / Anna was in NY on Sep. 7th
Well, 6 days are gone and due to my busy work I wasn't able to update anna4ever.de but now I have more time.
First of all I want to say something about this incredible terroristic attack against the USA: I am sad that this happened and I hope that those who committed this incredible attack get what they deserve. But I am more than scared about what the Americans could do military! Who knows what will be at the end? This might end in an horrible scenario and who really wants that???

ANNAS FOOT IS HEALED!!!!
Many many news but the most important one - read what Anna said in New York on Thursday:
"I'm just getting back in shape to the point where I'm 100% and where I don't have to think about my foot anymore. I'm on a week-to-week basis. When I feel like I can run and sprint on the court without being afraid (of aggravating the injury), then I'll be back."
That's more than great news and to be honest - I didn't expect this to happen right now!!! Now so much is possible and organizers of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow claim that Anna again has confirmed that she will play. This is the week after Leipzig...! Anna is still scheduled!!!I am just hoping that she first comes back when there's really no more pain in her foot and everything is absolutely healed but that's what she said in New York!!!!
Why was Anna in New York?? - the new official website (kournikova.com) was launchd, well, in fact it is a relaunch because it exists already since November 99! Anna was there and also gave away keys to a BMW, a Lycos Competition. According to a new report Anna is scheduled to play an exhibition match against Monica Seles on November 29, 2001 in Denver!!!Well, might be true!
My opinion: I wouldn't do it Anna!!!!She should clear 2001 out of her mind and an exhibition match isn't much important!Anna should concentrate on a comeback in the beginning of 2002!

Anna and Sergej recently on their yacht and Anna wearing a bikini, eating fries and reading something plus a silly story from BILD...this you find in today's issue of the german newspaper - here you can read the story (in german and only on September 4, 2001))!
My wish: Leave Anna alone and don't make up silly stories that everyone thinks that Anna isn't interested in coming back to the Tour. Anna is injured and pays attention that her left foot stays pressure-free so why don't you leave her alone?? Anna has a right for her privacy but 2001 seems to turn into the Paparazzi-year!
