Right now, I have more time to do other things until my back fully recovers. They (London's Evening Standard) sensationalized that and the headline said 'Anna's retiring,' but that's not true. I'm just trying to get fully recovered."

Ranking News / Enrique's new video / VIDEOSTORE TEMPORARILY CLOSED
As of October 27, Anna is ranked 302th in Singles (+1 position)! In Doubles she lost 4 more ranking positions and is now ranked 181th with unchanged points! In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna and Chanda Rubin are ranked 65th (-3 positions, tendency: steadily going downwards) with unchanged points.

VIDEOSTORE TEMPORARILY CLOSED: I
figured out that the quality goes down so I finally
decided to CLOSE my Videostore from now on. But:
I will transfer ALL videos to my PC to finally
maintain the current quality which is left on the
VHS Tapes! As soon as I am done with this I will
open the Videostore again - probably offering the
Videos as VCD, SVCD and DVD!

Journal: "still miss tennis" / more GQ Awards pictures
Anna talks about her experience at the World Music Awards 2003 and, most important, TENNIS - all that you can read in her latest Journal entry at kournikova.com! Quote: "...I still miss tennis. I'm continuing my rehab and looking forward to my exhibition matches next month." What can we learn from that???
Anna still loves Tennis and if she is able to recover fully she WILL come back to the WTA Tour I think. Please God, make it happen!

RETIREMENT A RUMOR, said Anna / sport1 about retirement / Error pages
Anna presented an award to David Grohl (Foo Fighters) at the "GQ Men of the Year 2003" Awards show on October 21 in New York! There, she was interviewed while walking over the red carpet and the interviewer (John Henson from US TV Channel "Spike TV") was asking Anna THE question - if the retirement rumours are true...! Anna practises in Miami - this was reported by "miamivice" (member of official Messageboard)! He reports that he saw Anna practising with an older Pro 2 days ago for about 1,5 hours! Plus: He als says that she hit the ball really well :-))

Ranking News: As of October 20, Anna lost
another position in Singles - 303th ranked with 67,5
points! In Doubles no changes - Anna is still ranked
177th with unchanged 152 points! In the
Team-competition of the "Porsche Race to the
Championships"-Rankings Anna and Chanda Rubin are
still ranked 62th with unchanged 151 points.

saw World Music Awards on RTL: I watched the
World Music Awards on RTL (german TV channel) -
well, it was just a "summary", not the whole show!
But nevertheless: Anna was presented as
"Ex-Tennisqueen" right away from the beginning and
in the show, I saw her kissing 50 Cent when she gave
him an award! I know that this has to be like this
but seeing Anna doing this...a strange feeling for
me!
PERSONAL COMMENT: After all I am disappointed once again. Hopefully she plays Tennis again! Chances are more than slim - I know :-((((

Anna undecided / Auckland 2004-hope / new gossip / color change / World Music Awards on RTL
The british press reported that Anna WILL quit playing Tennis...! But that's not right! In this article by reuters you can read the REAL quotes from Anna at the World Music Awards 5 days ago in Monte Carlo! To sum it up: IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT HER DOCTOR'S WILL SAY!!!! I think that she will follow their advice - if they say that she cannot continue to play Pro Tennis with her back then I think she will announce her retirement...! She still loves the sport (despite she said that she would like to act in "Sex and the City" etc) and in my opinion this quote describes her situation very very good:
"I hate not knowing what is going on. Tennis is my life but I want to take my time and make the right decision."

World Music Awards @ RTL / SMOKING
Today at 5:45pm CET RTL showed a report about the World Music Awards - Parties! Anna was also there...! She wore a jeans skirt and who stood next to her??? Julio Iglesias jr.! She also was interviewed shortly - she just said that she is excited because of all the famous people etc.! As expected, she had way to much makeup on her beautiful face :-(! The last scene: Anna going on a Yacht and reportedly left it at around 5:00am TODAY morning! VIDEO OF THE SCENE (thanx to Stefan Frauenknecht)
SMOKING: This is not the end of the world but
at least something I didn't "expect" from Anna -

IS smoking! I am a smoker, too - but I am not a pro
athlete at the same time! Well, does all this mean
that Anna WAS an athlete???
However, the facts are: She IS smoking (I assume
that this one wasn't her first cigarette) and
tonight she is co-hosting the World Music Awards in
Monte Carlo (an absolutely NON-Tennis-event...)!

my attitude: I just received an email, asking
me why I keep on writing "end of tennis career" etc!
Here my answer: I know that Anna is seriously
injured but all these offcourt-stuff simply becomes
more and more (just remember how much she did during
this year's US Open) - the latest "highlight" for
sure is being the host of the World Music Awards on
October 12 in Monte Carlo! Take a look back: Last
year we were all surprised to see Anna sitting in
the audience of the VMA's while the US Open were
ongoing - now she's hosting such a big show!!!!
I am not saying that all my hope for a
Tennis-comeback is gone but all these
offcourt-activities are a BIG (and steadily growing)
indicator for me that she IS definitely thinking of
not coming back and if her body "forces" her to
retire she will have enough other jobs to do!
The thing which simply frustrates me is that I once fell in love with TENNIS-Anna...! And this Anna seems to be almost dead :-(((((((((((((((

ANNA CLOSE TO RETIRE / No Vancouver-exhibition / Ranking News / I had a nightmare
After I have read this article by The Observer I just have to say that I have close to zero hope for another comeback :-((((((((((((((
Phil de Picciotto (Anna's agent) told them that "it's undetermined" if Anna will ever play at the top level again, which means WTA and Grand Slam! The upcoming exhibitions are important for Anna because "she will see more from there"!!!!! The article also posts the question what Anna could do IF she would be forced to retire due to this chronic back injury: Phil de Picciotto said that they already have some thoughts about that (unfortunately no surprise for me). He also revealed that "Kournikova's playing career is in such a state of limbo at the moment that she is no longer working with a coach."!!!! This sentence is such SOOO frustrating...!
PERSONAL COMMENT: I fear that THIS IS THE END of Anna's professional Tennis career. I cannot say what I will do with annaforever.de if she really retires...
No Vancouver-exhibition:
There will be NO exhibition in Vancouver on November
14. Anna won't play there against Lindsay Davenport!
As of now, there is no official reason available.
Maybe it is because Lindsay was reported to have
surgery on her toe after the US Open (but she's
playing Filderstadt in Germany this week), maybe it
is because of anything else.

I had a nightmare: I woke up this morning -
earlier as I had to wake up because of a nightmare...!
In my dream Anna announced her retirement at a press
conference in Wimbledon 2004 :-(((! She said that
she "had to give it up" because due to neverending
injuries it wouldn't make no sense anymore. I saw
this frustrating (but expectable) press conference
on german TV (in my dream)! I remember that I was
starring at the TV screen, shaking my head because I
couldn't and didn't want to believe what I was just
watching and hearing...!
Bottom line: How know's? Maybe this nightmare turns out to be true even earlier than next year's Wimbledon...

Goodbye Lycos / "I had Sex with Enrique"
I was very surprised to see this - Lycos and kournikova.com have split up!!!! Remember Wimbledon 2000? Anna received a Lycos Award for being the world's most downloaded female athlete at this time. Lycos was proud to have kournikova.com on board. And now??? Anna doesn't play Tennis since months, only offcourt appearances and now both have split up. Who definitely knows why...
"I had Sex with Enrique": BILD comes up with
this latest story about Enrique, who's said to be
cheating again. Mia Myers (25, british model) said
"News of the World" (british yellow press) how
"good" Enrique is - as a lover!

Anna to play in Leon, Spain? / very very frustrated
"kkovafan0" (member of Anna's official Messageboard) posted that Anna will play in Spain again - an exhibition in Leon on December 7, 2003. Her opponent obviously is still unknown!
Right now I do not know if this right or wrong information!

miss THIS Anna and I love THIS Anna - the Tennis
player!!! But nowadays: movie premiere-appearances
half naked, acting as TV reporter during the US Open
(roles vice versa!), Anna being featured on "Topspin"-videogame
etc etc etc! Honestly, I am tired of all this
offcourt-SHIT! I just have 2 wishes left:
1) Anna, please let us fans know IF you intend to come back (look at her latest "no comeback"-Talk Journal entry...)
2) If you come back to the WTA Tour 2004, please play tournaments I am able to visit (Leipzig, Filderstadt, Antwerp, Strasbourg, Warsaw,...) because I would LOVE to see you LIVE again!

Anna about World Team Tennis event in Boston
Anna participated in the 11th Annual ADT World Team Tennis Smash Hits event in Boston on September 25! She talks about that event in her latest Journal entry on her official Website. What surprises and frustrates me as well: SHE DOES NOT SAY ONE SINGLE WORD ABOUT COMEBACK-PLANS! The only thing she talks about heading in this direction - quote: "Monica Seles and Chanda Rubin were also there, so it was fun seeing them again." Does this indicate that she misses the "WTA Tour life" at least a little bit?!?!?! Hopefully.
PERSONAL COMMENT: Her last WTA match was on April 9 in Charleston, almost HALF A YEAR ago!!!! Harold Solomon is gone, I do not know/read anything about a new coach and I do not hear anything about a comeback as well anymore...! I really like Anna very very much and would love to see her playing at the WTA Tour for many more years but to be realistic: These facts (plus all her offcourt activities) indicate that she might never return to the WTA Tour :-((((((
