Rankings Nightmare!
Rankings freefall has begun - it is a real nightmare! This weeks Anna loses 13 (!!!) positions and slides down to ! 35 in the current World Ranking! This ranking position wouldn't be high enough to directly qualify for the main draw of some TierI-Events but it's getting even worse next monday: Anna will lose the following points from last year:
| week | Event | Round | Points |
| 44 | Leipzig | SF | 121 |
| 45 | Philadelphia | QF | 60 |
| 46 | Chase Ch'Ships | SF | 260 |
| Total | 441 | ||
She will lose 441 ranking points which will mean that only 484 points will be left on her Singles ranking accout! Anna will fall down to around 75!
This is incredible and the consequences will be QUALIS in 2002 - who would have thought of this in the beginning of 2001???! For sure Anna is also very frustrated but there is nothing she can do in 2001 - she can only try to climb up the rankings again in 2001 and secure a place in the Top10 again where she belongs. I am convinced that Anna will show us what she can and she will come back to the top ranks again!

2002 Mixed with Max again? - Health news
Max Mirnyi addressed some words to Anna Kournikova (he calls her "Ania" - good friends of her reportedly can call her like this) at St.Petersburg last week - both plan to renew their mixed partnership starting in Sydney 2002! This is not quite sure he said because Anna is still not 100% healthy (sad news)! The exact quotes from him later!
To the health issue - I saw Anna in Filderstadt quite a lot and I also saw her taking medicaments in the Players Lounge (it looked like pills or tablets)! Maybe just vitamins, maybe something else - I don't know to be honest. Anna has the whole week time right now to relax, at the end of next week she will travel to South Africa for her 3 exhibition matches against Amanda Coetzer. Full details about these exhibitions

Ranking news / annaforever.de
Bad bad news in rankings - Anna will lose her points from Leipzig00 (semifinal) ,Philadelphia00 (quarterfinal) and Chase00 (semifinal) => 441 in total! This will be next week according to my informations due to an agreement between the WTA and the Top Players. Why all this? The 2001 season ends 2 weeks earlier than 2000, next week already the season-ending Masters in Munich (GER) while last year the Sparkassen Cup in Leipzig (GER) was played and afterwards Philadelphia and then the Masters in New York! According to Alex Schreiber (really recommended to subscribe to his newsletter here) Anna will have just 484 points left at the end of the year - it will be around the 70s,80s in the Rankings! This will mean that in 2002 we might see Anna in some Quali-Rounds!!! Can you really imagine this?? Really hard to imagine but it seems to become reality!!
annaforever.de: At
least good news from the new server - the new MAIN

and for Michael Bohnert who updates this site from
time to time it's michaelb@annaforever.de
! Sorry but to correct the mailto-tags on all

ANNAFOREVER.DE nearly completed / FHM Anamoly
I have almost finished the Uploads to the new servers - just little things left to do (e-mail-correction etc.)!
The PICTURES Section is now completely available again and in the FHM 9/01 USA-Issue you will find huge Scans - only here on annaforever.de!! The POWERPOINT-Section in Downloads is also accessible again!
FHM Anamoly: A
few days ago I found something really interesting -
FHM UK 9/01 has a FAKE picture of Anna - look at the
thumb below (credits to "Wickedmouse" for
finding out this)! I think that this is really sad -
Anna is so beautiful - none of her pics needs to be
edited!
October 26, 2001
ANNAFOREVER.DE online / ANNA LOST unfortunately
Welcome ANNAFOREVER.DE - unfortunately the overall background-pic as well as the whole PICTURES Section isn't online so far - I will do it tomorrow.
ANNA LOST unfortunately: Anna
lost her quarterfinal-match against Kim Clijsters
but I am not really sad about it because it was
tight - 5:7,6:7! Anna, in my opinion, really seems
to be on the right way to rediscover her great game
and shape she was in before this terrible stress
fracture forced her to cancel most of the
tournaments this year. This was Annas last match
2001 in a WTA Tournament but at least there are 3
Exhibitions ahead in South Africa at the beginning
of November!
October 25, 2001
Anna beats Hantuchova - Clijsters at 18:00 CET / Rankings freefall!!
Great great great! Anna won also against Daniela Hantuchova - in 2 sets - 6:1,7:6! Wonderful! It was no tight 3-set-win! Either Daniela Hantuchova played really really bad (which no one could imagine after her recently good results) or Anna is on her way to rediscover her shape she was in before her stress fracture.
Tomorrow Anna faces Kim Clijsters in the quarterfinal - exactly the same like in 2000. There she beat Kim 6-7,6-3,6-1 before losing vs Magdalena Maleeva in the semifinal. But this year roles are a little bit reversed - Clijsters reached the final of Roland Garros, won numerous titles while Anna was sidelined for most of the season due to her stress fracture. Hopefully this match will become a real tight fight with a victorious Anna at the end!
Rankings freefall!!: Bad
bad news - Anna will fall down in the rankings
rapidly - to #34 next week although she won
her last 2 matches! Why? Last year she played Moscow
(Tier I) in this week and reached the final - this
year only Luxembourg (Tier III) and she simply
cannot defend these points. It will even get worse -
she will also lose her points from Leipzig
(Semifinal 2000) and Chase Championships (Semifinal
2000) - I better don't start to imagine where Anna
will be positioned at the end of the year...
October 24, 2001
Is Anna tired??? - anyway: Hantuchova next at 13:30 CET
Some Interview-Cuts Anna gave after her victory against Kandarr yesterday:
"I wasn't that bad. I am happy that the match was only 2 sets." She additionally said that she improved. But according to sport1.de and sportal.de Anna also said this: "You have to deal careful with your self-confidence. I wasn't able to do so today but I am also happy that it's over now. I definitely need a break." When you read the sportal.de-article you can also come the conclusion that Kandarr said this "need-a-break"-thing but when you read the sport1.de-article you read that ANNA said this!!!
My opinion: It was a difficult year for Anna, for sure her most difficult year in her pro career so far. Luxembourg is her 5th straight tournament since her 2nd comeback in Leipzig but beside training, treatment etc. she played in Leipzig and Zurich just 1 match at all !! But I am not a tennisplayer, I surely do not feel how Anna feels and I also did not have surgery in my left foot so if Anna is tired and needs now a break - fine! Take a break before 2002 Anna - 2001 season is over (unfortunately)!
Anyway - one match at least is left for Anna: Tomorrow against Daniela Hantuchova in the Round 16 in Luxembourg! The match is scheduled for 13:30 CET at noon time!
October 24, 2001
Anna DEFEATS Kandarr!!! - tomorrow vs. Hantuchova
Before Annas injury this win was expectable but after 5 consecutive losses since San Diego this 6:4,7:5-victory makes me extremely happy and Anna also for sure! Finally a victory in Singles again - at her last official WTA Tournament in 2001! Great Anna! Next she faces Daniela Hantuchova who she already defeated at the Aussie Open this year but we have to be aware that Daniela got better throughout 2001 and Annas game isn't the same as it was at the Aussie Open. If Anna will advance to the quarterfinal or not - THIS victory was very important, especially for Annas self-confidence! Her match against Daniela Hantuchova will take place TOMORROW, most likely at 18:00 CET again! Look here for further details!
Some facts: According to someone who saw the match live Anna didn't play very well, not much power in her strokes, not much confidence at all - BUT: Much less unforced errors than in her previous matches which is good news. In the 2nd set Anna was 0:4 behind but managed to come back and win the set 7:5! Great to see her fighting!
October 23, 2001
Anna face Kandarr at 18:00 CET
Today Anna faces german Jana Kandarr in the 1st round in Luxembourg! Hopefully she wins to level her match record this year to 9:9 (until now Anna has lost 9 matches and won 8)! Anna doesn't play Doubles so this might already be Annas last match of the 2001 season. Of course I hope the opposite happens and Anna can gain self-confidence by winning some matches. She shouldn't put herself under any kind of pressure - if she does so Doubles faults shouldn't be a problem!
October 22, 2001
Anna-Kandarr tomorrow evening / AKFS Audio Center / Site news
Anna will face german Jana Kandarr tomorrow evening at 6:00 p.m. on Center Court. Unfortunately this match won't be shown on any TV channel. It is a TierIII-tournament - that's the reason. Anyway, let's hope that Anna can win this match and put an end to her 1st-round-losing-streak! Go Anna - I will hope for you. Anna won't play Doubles there.
AKFS Audio Center: I am very proud to present the AKFS
AUDIO CENTER
- all files are available again and regular updates
will follow whenever I hear Anna again in the future!
Additional good news: In about 1,2 weeks
ANNA4EVER.DE will move to ANNAFOREVER.DE - finally
the new webspace is available and right now just the
uploading is left!
Site news: In
the beginning the Download-sections "Icons,Cursor"
and "Boot Logos" won't be available, these
weren't updated over the last few months so they
aren't so important. Additionally the "AKFS
World"-Section "Imagemaps" will be
deleted - there are more important sections to be
updated! So if you want to see my feelings I
expressed there - read it now - the IMAGEMAPS will
only be available a few more days!

Luxembourg infos
Anna plays Jana Kandarr in the first round of the Seat Open in Luxembourg. Anna is seeded 5th in this TierIII-Tournament and hopefully she can beat the german player. In the quarterfinal she might face Kim Clijsters if she comes so far but I think that all what counts is this 1st round-victory. GO ANNA!
October 20, 2001
Ahead of the last Tournament 2001
I want to express my deep disappointment because of the fact that the upcoming week is the last week where Anna will play a WTA Tournament in 2001...! Anna will be playing in Luxembourg like she did in 2000 - last year everyone expected her to win her 1st Singles Title but this year I am convinced that everybody would be more than surprised if she would reach the semifinal again like she did last year! Hopefully Anna can win a match before the end of the 2001 season! I agree with her when she says that it is MENTAL PROBLEM right now and not so much a physical anymore. SELF-CONFIDENCE is the keyword I think!
Related news come from Phil de Picciotto, Anna's agent! He said the following: "You must realise, Anna had a big injury. She had a choice. She could delay her comeback until next year, or return to playing with no expectations after being out of the game so long. We are satisfied with her progress and ask that she should not be judged on this year."
Other news occured from Barbara Schett who was chatting with her fans during the Filderstadt-Tournament and also said this about Anna (translated from german) -
Q:
Have you read the book from Nathalie Tauziat?
SCHETT: No, I don't understand french.
Q: Will Anna get better?
SCHETT: Yes I think so. It's only a question of
time.
Q: Do you think that Anna comes back again and
perhaps wins a title?
SCHETT: Hard to say but she has the talent.
Q: I want to know what you and the other players
think about Annas comeback.
SCHETT: I think it's very important that she is
playing again. It's good for all of us.
Q: Can you imagine to play Doubles with Anna?
SCHETT: Sure. We've have already played with each
other several times.

NO Bondgirl / next for Anna is Luxembourg / credits / Omega-event in Zurich
First of all apologizes for the delay in Updates this week - I was busy with my regular work!
Many news occured - Anna DENIED that she will be the next bondgirl - read more here!
next for Anna is Luxembourg: Annas
next, and unfortunately already last tournament of
2001 will be Luxembourg, the Seat Open, starting
next monday! Hopefully she can finally win a match.
This would give her certainly a lot of
self-confidence which she really needs!
Anna also denied the rumor that Martina Hingis' mother is her new COACH - that is not the truth!!! They trained together very often during the last few months (she also trained with Martina before her San Diego-Comeback) but this doesn't mean that Hingis' mother Melanie automatically becomes Annas new Coach!
credits: A
big THANK goes out to Christian Müller for sending
in his first Wallpaper. Hopefully there will come
more!
Another THANK YOU to Kay Novotny who wants to give
me pictures of Anna in Filderstadt last week. Thanx
in advance for the offer!
Omega-event in Zurich: Last
but not least: Anna was at an Omega presentation in
Zurich last week, straight after her Singles match
vs. Coetzer. See
pictures and read the story!
October 17, 2001
Anna lost vs Coetzer / Bondgirl??
Anna lost vs. Coetzer in the 1st round of the Swisscom Challenge in 3 sets - 0:6,6:4,3:6 the score. I haven't seen the match so far but I was told that it was an terrible first set from Anna where she almost only made faults! This is really bad bad news because this is her 4th straight loss since her 2nd comeback in Leipzig 3 weeks ago. Additionally since she plays no Doubles this week it is possible that next week (either Linz or Luxembourg) Anna could already play her last match of the season in a WTA Tournament!!!! Sad news!
Bondgirl??: I have heard that Anna was offered the
role of the NEXT BONDGIRL!!!! I don't know if that
is right but according to a friend of mine she said
the following: "I think I have to do a lot
of things and I don't think I am physically ready
for that"! Anna, hear my advise - keep on
playing Tennis. That is where I love and NEED you to
see!
October 14, 2001
Zurich,1st Round: Anna-Coetzer / Ranking / Trouble at country border? / worn shirt sold at ebay
Not an easy task for Anna:She will face Amanda Coetzer in the 1st Round of the Swisscom Challenge starting tomorrow in Zurich-Kloten (SUI)! Well, I hope that Anna can finally win a match after 4 losses in comeback-matches in a row, she hasn't won a match since February 8 in Paris Indoors!!!! But I also think that Anna just wants to gain match practise and therefore plays as much as possible!
Ranking:
Slowly but surely it's getting tight for Anna to
directly qualify for tournaments where many
Top20-players start! Imagine: It's likely that Anna
will have to play some qualis to get into the main
draws of TierII- but especially TierI-Events (like
Zurich is)! Next week she will slide down in
Rankings once again - from currently 22 to 24!!!
More bad news: She made the Semis in the Chase
Championships last year and won't be able to play
there this year which means that she will lose these
points also! Who knows where she will be positioned
in the beginning of 2002...
Trouble at country border? DSF had the news:
Has Anna had trouble at the German-/Switzerland-border???
It was reported today during the Filderstadt-Final
that officials examined Annas luggage (bags etc.)
and it took 45 minutes until Anna could drive on!!!
The reason for them? Anna reportedly provocated them!
worn shirt sold at ebay: On
ebay a shirt was sold - worn and signed by Anna!
Someone really paid the huge amount of 2425$!!!! Look
at it -

Surgery for Martina??!Season over for Spice Girls
Today I heard that season for Martina is over - her injury she suffered yesterday requires SURGERY (source: CNN "World Sport") - well, this brings up one question in my mind: Is modern tennis to hard for girls???!Anna was injured most of the season, Seles, Henin, Martina, Pierce, Venus etc. - there are soooo many players which are injured so often - that's why this question comes to my mind more and more often!
October 13, 2001
Martina injured - no more Doubles
During her Semifinal-match against Lindsay Davenport Martina injured her foot - I saw it LIVE and was scared as everybody else! Afterwards Martina got treatment and Anna came and looked also scared at the scenerie. Martina tried to keep on playing but after 2 points she withdrew and she could hardly walk! A few minutes later it was announced that Martina's injury is serious and she can't play Doubles with Anna!!! Horrible news!
Even more bad is that now there is no chance anymore that Anna and Martina might qualify for the Masters in Munich later this month. They had to have won this tournament as well as Zurich and Linz to have a CHANCE to qualify. Now this dream of a slim chance is over unfortunately! Get healthy Martina (she will also lose her Nr.1-Ranking now)!
As I said I was there again and saw Anna and Martina training from 11-12 CET on Court 3 - there were many many people watching and it was once again a very funny and simply great training to watch! Afterwards Anna and Martina answered some questions to german TV Channel DSF and then my biggest wish so far came true: I GOT AN AUTOGRAPH FROM ANNA!!! It was at 12:50 CET today, I will never forget this, thanx sooo much Anna!
But Martina's injury makes this day not so perfect unfortunately because now they can't play Doubles for some time!
October 13, 2001
Easy win in Doubles
Anna and Martina scored another easy win in this week's Doubles Competition in Filderstadt, Germany! 6:2,6:2 the score! In the 1st set both lay behind 0:1 but then everything went well for the Spice Girls, Anna was serving well (why not in Singles Anna??) and they made beautiful points, played with angles and Rittner/Hrdlickova were never playing on the same level! I was there again and saw the match live - it started at about 20:45 CET and took less than an hour! So we will see Anna and Martina tomorrow again in the Doubles Semifinal vs. Meghann Shaughnessy/Justine Henin who beat the No1 seeded Doubles pair today, so be aware of that Spice Girls! Martina also has to play the Singles Semifinal after an easy 2-set-victory over Panova!
The Doubles Semifinal tomorrow is scheduled as 3rd match on Centre Court after Henin-Testud & Davenport-Hingis! Hingis will be given a "suitable rest" after her Singles Semifinal before the Doubles Semifinal takes place! It depends on how long both Singles Semis get - the Doubles Match might start already at 16:00 CET but it's also possible that it starts at 18/19:00 CET! We will see and I will be there again!
Unfortunately Anna doesn't seem to be in the mood to give autographs at the moment, at least not on her way from the exit door in Filderstadt to her Porsche (she is always the driver) - I don't know why but tonight it was the third time in a row Anna where Anna didn't give autographs to her fans which really makes me sad. Hingis, Capriati, Sanchez-Vicario etc. - all of them are giving a few, but at least some, autographs - not Anna! I don't know why! Tomorrow is my last chance to get one, perhaps this time!
Also today - my report from Filderstadt today, in german:
October 12, 2001

Anna
in BOSS Store: Yesterday Anna didn't had to play
and went shopping in BOSS-Store in a town called
Metzingen. It is reported by german newspaper BILD
that she carried 4 bags.
In BILD ONLINE there is also an incredible report
that someone stole Anna's SLIP out of her dressing
room but this should have happened LAST YEAR! That's
why she reportedly ordered strict protection for
herself. Well if this is right and somebody did this
- shame on you! This is Annas privacy and my wish to
all of you "fans" - RESPECT ANNA's PRIVACY!!!!
I have to apologize for another thing - I cannot upload any photos from my trip to Filderstadt on Tuesday and Wednesday because I just filmed it on videotape!Sorry! Today I will be there again at Filderstadt and if Anna and Martina win then I will be there tomorrow, too!
October 11, 2001
Doubles-QF tomorrow evening / Trip-Summary / Annas Interview
Anna and Martina are playing Doubles Quarterfinal tomorrow against Kveta Hrdlickova & Barbara Rittner! Here the schedule for Centre Court tomorrow:
| 13:00 CET | Capriati - Testud |
| n.before 14:15 CET | Henin - Huber |
| estimated 16:00 CET | Hingis - Panova |
| estimated 17:30/18 CET | Davenport - Mauresmo |
| estimated 19/20 CET | Anna/Martina - Hrdlickova/Rittner |
Times are just estimated but anyway - it seems that it will become almost a "night session" for Anna and Martina!
Trip-summary:
I am still very much in Filderstadt with my thoughts,
the past 2 days were incredible although I once
again didn't succeed in getting an autograph but I
saw Anna so much that it's just incredible. Here a little
summary in english:
Tuesday - I was there early and first saw
Anna sitting in the Players Lounge and having
breakfast. Then I had to wait until 16:00 CET -
Anna&Martina-Training! Both were training for
about 2 hours, in the end Anna got stretched with
the help of a guy I don't know! This was awesome to
watch! Then I waited for Anna at the exit to get an
autograph but unfortunately she just said "Sorry,I
have to go" and drove away in a Porsche with
her mother!
Wednesday - Short after 10:30 CET I saw her
again sitting in the Players Lounge, signing
something, I don't know what! From 11-12 CET she
trained with Martina on Centre Court - it was
unbelievable to see both doing exercises you see in
Annas Fitnessvideo (medicine ball - chest pass)!
Anna was wearing a simple all-black outfit! At 13
CET Anna played her 1st Singles Match, it did hurt
to see Anna serving, I don't know what the reason
for these numerous double faults was! After the 1st
set I was hoping but Anna showed what she can not
often enough and this doublefault-serve killed her!
I was very disappointed after her 4th consecutive
1st Round-Loss! A few minutes later I saw her again
standing by her mother. Both were watching Hingis'
match! Short before the Doubles match against
Navratilova/Sanchez-
Vicario Anna was practising again - she just
practised her serve...!At about 18:00 CET the
Doubles startet and this was wonderful to watch -
Anna and Martina were not the crowd favorites (this
was Navratilova) but they were much better - clear
2-set-victory in about 1 hours and afterwards an
oncourt-Interview with Martina and Anna! It is
always the most wonderful thing to see Anna smiling!
Then I waited for about 1 hour at the exit door but
again she didn't give any autographs which made me
sad. But anyway, it was an outstanding 2-day-Trip to
Filderstadt!
Annas
Interview: Anna gave sport1.de an Interview
before her Singles match yesterday. She said that
she still gets treatment on her foot before and
after the match and this will stay the same in the
near future! Conclusion: Her foot injury is healed
enough to start playing again but it's not fully
recovered I think! Additionally she said that in
2002 she just wishes to STAY HEALTHY and wants to
become so good as she was in the end of 2000!
All these statements of Anna - I am sad because I
fear that this foot injury and the fear of a
reoccurence will stay in Annas head for a long long
time! I pray that she soon gets better but 2001 is
just for getting match practise - nothing else!
October 10, 2001
Out in Singles but Win in Doubles
What a day - I was in Filderstadt again and unfortunately Anna lost against Anne Kremer in Singles 1st round but the circumstances how she lost were terrible - 25 doubefaults!!! I remember Aussie Open 99....! Anna seems to have low to zero self-confidence in Singles, I don't know why! It seems that she still needs more match practise.
In Doubles it was a "clash of the generations" - Anna & Martina vs. Navratilova & Sanchez-Vicario! The "Spice Girls" were better from the beginning on, they led each set 3-0 and finally won 6-3,6-3! This was a really wonderful match to watch, great!
More details in my report from today (only in german, sorry) -
October 9, 2001
Anna has practised today and will play Singles and Doubles tomorrow / SA-Exhibitions
What an outstanding day for me - I was in Filderstadt and saw Anna once again! At 11:00 CET I saw her eating in the players Lounge and later she was training with Martina for 2 hours from 16-18:00 CET! Anna was wearing a orange/black-combination and they were practising intensively!Afterwards she exited the area in a Porsche together with her mother Alla with the words "Sorry, I have to go" - Anna, you are so wonderful! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get an autograph but perhaps tomorrow!
For those of you who understand german -
Filderstadt 9.10.2001 - Report
Tomorrow: Anna's Singles 1st Round Match is scheduled 13:00 CET on Center Court against Anne Kremer. Afterwards she also has to play Doubles 1st Round together with Martina Hingis against Martina Navratilova & Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario! This match is scheduled as 4th match on Center Court, approximately around 17:00 CET!
SA-Exhibitions:
Anna has committed to play 3 exhibition matches
in South Africa in November against Amanda
Coetzer. Therefore she won't play Fed Cup!
October 8, 2001 (II)
Anna faces Kremer in Singles 1st / Rankings
Unfortunately Anna doesn't play tomorrow (because I will be there), not Singles, not Doubles! But I now know her opponents for opening rounds: Anna Kremer she will face in Singles (remember Leipzig 99, Anna won 7-5,6-4, this was also Annas 3rd comeback-match after a long stress fracture layoff) and in Doubles the Spice Girls will face Navratilova/Sanchez-Vicario which will be a very very interesting match! So with a probability of 99% Anna will be playing on Wednesday because it is the first round she has to play first!
Rankings:
Anna didn't fall more in Singles Rankings which
makes me happy but Anna doesn't really care about
what her ranking is right now. She is just
interested in staying healthy and getting match
practise again. I can fully understand that!
Hopefully she practises tomorrow in Filderstadt!
October 8, 2001
Filderstadt-Start and US attacks
Hopefully Anna is already in Filderstadt. After the US attacks against Afghanistan yesterday I am a little bit scared because now nobody in the world can feel safe I think.
Back to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix: Today starts the main draw and Anna doesn't play either Singles or Doubles. I am quite sure she will start playing tomorrow! As soon as I know it I will let you know!
October 7, 2001 (II)
10th Title for the Spice Girls / Annas Commments / Filderstadt
Congratulations Anna and Martina! They needed 74 minutes to beat Krasnoroutskaya/Dementieva 7:6,6:3! Especially in the first set it was a close match, many many breaks and rebreaks! Krasnoroutskaya/Dementieva were already leading 6:5 but Anna hold her service game and in the tiebreak Anna and Martina dominated (7:1)!The 2nd set was not that close - Anna and Martina lead 3-0 very fast and although Dementieva/Krasnoroutskaya came back to 4-2 both weren't good enough for my dream Doubles Team! Martina served it out on 5-3 and this Tournament win means much for both of them - Anna gains much confidence after her long long injury layoff and Martina lost to Dementieva in Singles in the Quarterfinal! See the Screenshots below for more statistic details:
More great great news: Anna WILL be playing in Filderstadt - on sport1.de the tournament director Uhden was quoted saying "Kournikova comes"! He said this after last week news came up (spoken out by Hingis) that Anna had to go to hospital for treatment on her foot after her Singles Loss vs Fokina!
So really EVERYTHING looks fine right now - as soon as the Singles and Doubles Draw for Filderstadt is out I will publish it!
Once again - CONGRATULATIONS ANNA AND MARTINA! You are the best!
Annas
Comments: After the Doubles Final Anna said
following wonderful sentences in the press
conference: "Obviously,
in doubles you don't have to run as much as in
singles, so my foot is okay for the moment. But I
have to be careful after such a long injury layoff,
that's why I went to hospital just to make sure that
everything is all right. We are scheduled to play in
three more tournaments this year, in Filderstadt,
Zurich and Linz, as well as next January at the
Australian Open."
Great great news - her visit to hospital was
"just" a precautionary measure, NOT because
she felt soreness in her foot again! I am really
really happy to see that Anna takes care of her
serious injury. If she is really planning on playing
the upcoming 3 weeks in Singles AND Doubles and her
foot can take this pressure than I think we can be
say that her foot is healed! These news are just
wonder-wonder-wonderful - Anna and Martina playing
the Aussie Open for the second time in Doubles -
hopefully everything happens like Anna says it!
Filderstadt:Anna
will face a qualifier in the first round but already
in the 2nd Lindsay Davenport is waiting which will
be really really hard for Anna!I think that we
should be happy if she wins her first Singles match
after 3 defeats in recent comeback-matches!Take a
look at the Filderstadt
Singles Draw!

Doubles Final vs All-Russian team
In a few hours, straight after the Singles Final, Anna and Martina will play the Doubles Final of the Kremlin Cup! Both face the All-Russian team Elena Dementieva/Lina Krasnoroutskaya! Anna and Martina are the obvious favorites but for sure they won't underestimate them! Dementieva has to play the Singles Final first but it was different last year when Anna and Martina were playing the Singles Final and then had to play the Doubles Final! This was real tough! Today Anna and Martina can focus only on Doubles Final and if nothing special happens, they'll win! GO Spice Girls!

Anna and Martina advance to the Doubles Final / AKFS Audio Center
Wonderful "Spice Girls" - Anna and Martina easily beat Barbara Schett and Silvia Farina Elia 6:1,6:1. Both needed just 47 minutes which means that they were 2 minutes faster than yesterday at the Quarterfinal Win - great! Also outstanding - 0 unforced errors which is nearly unbelievable. Take a look at the Match Statistics in the Screenshots below. Anna and Martina will now be playing in the Doubles Final on Sunday - last year both lost there in a tough 3-setter. Hopefully not this time. This win today is even more remarkable because Martina suffered a frustrating defeat in Singles against Dementieva (2:6,2:6) a few hours in front of this Doubles Semifinal! Overwhelming performance Anna and Martina!
AKFS Audio Center: Today I re-uploaded the AUDIO CENTER onto a new
server. As soon as anna4ever.de has changed to
annaforever.de this section will be available again.
I think it will still take about 1,2 weeks!

Doubles semifinal on Friday afternoon
On Friday Anna and Martina will face Barbara Schett and Silvia Farina Elia in the Doubles semifinal! The match will be held on court 1 and it is scheduled as 4th match there! Hopefully not "critical": Martina has to play her Singles semifinal-match against Dementieva earlier! Go "Spice Girls"! I am still curious what Anna will say towards the "Anna has to go to hospital"-Comment! I saw a short report of the Doubles Quarterfinal today on CNN a few minutes ago - Anna doesn't seem to me as if her foot makes problems at all!
Until tomorrow - take a look at the Match Stats from todays Doubles Quarterfinal by clicking on the pics below!

Anna and Martina advance to semifinal
It was an easy win for the "Spice Girls" - 6:1,6:2 the score after only 49 minutes! Anna and Martina must have played very good on court 1! They won 60 of the total 89 points of the match for example!!! Take a look at the match statistic-scans below! Now I am really interested what Anna says when asked why she went to hospital (like Hingis told yesterday) - was it just a precautionary measure? Just a checkup and not a real setback??! We will see.

Anna was in HOSPITAL because of pain in....her foot!!! / new AKFS Guestbook
Martina has been asked if she will continue to play with Anna in the upcoming tournaments...and Martina said...:
Q: Are you going to continue playing doubles with Anna Kournikova?
A: Yes, we have already signed up for series of tournaments this fall. But a lot will depend on Anna's health. Perhaps I should not have been saying this, but she was in hospital today, because she again felt pain in her foot. I hope that she'll recover quickly, she is such a great player.
Well, I heard this a few minutes ago on CNN "World Sport" and couldn't believe, I still can't! I still hear Annas post-match comments after her Singles defeat - there was NOTHING about "pain in her foot", just lack of match practise etc.!
I have to say it - this is really more than cruel for me because I already arranged to be on leave next week to see Anna LIVE in Filderstadt but NOW...! It is too frustrating to find appropriate words for this! It seems that Dr.Hoerterer was right and at least 3 months without competitive tennis would have been necessary after her injury-setback after her Singles match in San Diego! Oh Anna, please follow the advise of the doctors. Don't ruin your career by more too-early-comebacks! Everything seemed to be fine again - apparently it just seemed to be! For sure tomorrow we will know if Anna can continue to play Doubles in Moscow but to be honest - I think that Anna will pull out of Moscow and also skip the rest of the year! I don't know how much pain she felt in her injured foot but she went to hospital so it must have been serious pain! I don't quite understand her that she said NOTHING in the post-match press conference that she felt pain again in her foot - WHY NOT?! Did she want to keep everything in secret? Will she now be angry with Martina because she told the press that Anna has been to hospital??
I finish now because I am too frustrated to write more thoughts about what might be! Anna, I love you. I hope that one day everything will be fine again, that's all I wish!
new AKFS Guestbook: The Anna Kournikova Forever Site has now a new Guestbook - why?
Shit Entries like below will be removed soon and I
hadn't had full access to the old one!

Anna lost in 3 sets... / CNN "World Sport"
I didn't expect this but it is true: ANNA LOST - again - in 3 sets! 2:6,6:1,2:6 the score vs. unknown young russian girl Galina Fokina! According to a few sources Anna committed about 55 unforced errors (!!!!!!) and also her percentage on break points was much too low - 20%! At least her service seems to be solid - around 66% with 3 aces! I found one good expression of what this defeat could be regarded as - "ground zero of Anna's pro career"!! I don't think that Anna really regards this defeat that much a catastrophy but for sure she is frustrated. It seems that Annas self-confidence in her whole game is near zero but I want to stay optimistic that this will change again! Anna was sidelined for 8 months (except this 1 San Diego-Match) - this is a fact and for sure every other player would have problems with performing well again in the first couple of matches!
Ok, she was defeated today by Nr.258! Ok, it was her 4th straight Defeat in Singles! BUT: The injury is to blame for her current form! Anna has to get used to everything again and this requires time. I am more than interested in Annas point of view, I cannot think that she regards this loss as her "ground zero" of her professional career. It is a long and hard way for Anna to rediscover her old shape, I think we should not be surprised too much if we see more unexpected defeats of Anna during the next weeks. The rest of the 2001 season can be regarded as a warm-up for the 2002 season! After this loss Anna will fall down in the rankings extremely because she was in the Moscow-Final last year, so perhaps next week she is already beyond the Top 30 which is really more than sad! But I think the ranking doesn't really matter for Anna right now - she just wants to play to get back in shape. And that's what I want to see! GO ANNA!
CNN "World Sport": There was a little report on CNN "World
Sport" today afternoon (13:30 CET) - You could
see how the tournament organizers presented a
birthday cake to Martina Hingis (became 21 on
Sunday)! Anna stood next to her and she laughed a
lot, you could really see their friendship!
Hopefully they keep on performing well in
Doubles!

Anna plays Fokina today
Anna will face WC-Entry Galina Fokina in a few hours on Centre Court! In my opinion she has good chances to win because she gained self-confidence just yesterday by winning easily her first Doubles match together with Martina Hingis! I am not certain if Eurosport will show this match LIVE - their coverage runs from 13:30-16:00 CET,so maybe!

Anna and Martina won in straight sets / "Will she quit?"-report
I love this Doubles team - Anna and Martina beat Koukalova and Vaskova 6-0,6-3 to reach Round 2 of the Kremlin Cup in Doubles. Tomorrow it will be the day where Anna faces her Russian Wildcard-opponent Galina Fokina in Singles! I think she has more than good chances to win!
"Will she quit?"-report: I said that this "Will she
quit?"-Report could be shown in well-known
german tv-magazines but none of them showed anything
except the one I saw! I am sure that these are just
false rumors and anyway: Right now nothing is more
important than that Anna stays healthy! I pray to
see her next week in Filderstadt (Ger)! Hopefully
Anna will gain self-confidence by beating Fokina
tomorrow in Singles!

News from Anna and Sergej or just rumors?
Just a few minutes ago on german TV channel RTL showed a report with the headline "Macht Anna Schluss?" (Will Anna quit?) - They showed pictures of Annas Paris 2001-Promotional Events for Adidas and the report said that Anna thinks about to quit her relationship with Sergej!! Why should she do that?! Sergej reportedly would make lots of "control calls", he is reportedly very envious!
If you missed this there are in my opinion more chances you can see this today:
1)
17:50 (CET) ZDF "Leute heute"
2) 18:00 (CET) DSF "Newscenter"
3) 18:30 (CET) RTL "Exclusiv"
3) 19:00 (CET) SAT1 "Blitz"
I don't know if this report will be aired in any of these tv magazines but it is highly probable I think.
In my opinion this is just gossip - false rumors! I read more Interview-Cuts from Leipzig last week and there Anna said, that she doesn't want to talk about her private life.
