SORRY / BILD "Anna's losing her magic aura"
Thanks Alex - my "news" from yesterday were WRONG - Anna didn't say "I really need to think long and hard about this. But I haven't made my mind up yet." - it was MARTINA back in early 2001 and afterwards she focused on her Singles until teaming up with Anna in San Diego! THANX ALEX for the Information, I appreciate it!
BILD "Anna's losing her magic aura": Well, if
you understand german take a look at the
very very very nice article about Anna today written
by my very very good friend Matthias Brügelman
who wrote absolutely F**-Reports in the past!
Basically the report says that Anna is a constant
loser and has proven this in her last 100
successless tournaments. Also the Hamburg Tournament
Director is quoted - if Anna is ranked 150th and a
joke on the court in the future then the hype around
her will soon be gone!
I KNOW that Anna is a shadow of her own AT THE MOMENT but I am hoping that she is aware of this and is thinking about her game and what the REASONS for this Downfall are. But this report is really Bulls*** once again! Thanx BILD!
They also mention that Anna is STILL ranked 4th in the Appearance fee-list - 100000 Euro she reportedly gets for simply attending a Tournament. Well, possible. I don't know!

ESCAPE moves up
In the current german Singles charts Enrique's "Escape" is ranked 6th! Well, hopefully there are Tennis-News to publish soon!

Martina again pulled out of Doubles, again due to Injury / MTV Making the Video at 10:30 CET tomorrow / MESSAGEBOARD / ACE magazine
Unfortunately Martina pulled out of Doubles in Key Biscayne, once again due to injury (both should have played Dementieva/Husarova in the quarters). According to a WTA Report it is "right plantar fascitis, a strained tendon running along the sole of her foot"! However, in the Interview after her Loss to Serena she said "...trying to play Doubles" but also "I have to focus on myself again" - So I am starting to ask myself if Martina is still the ideal Doubles partner for Anna anymore!!! Why? The women's game gets more and more competitive and powerful and it isn't anymore like back in 99 where Martina was able to be a top Singles player as well as a top Doubles player! But due to the fact that Anna NEEDS match practise (read her latest Interview after her loss vs Daniilidou) and won't get any competitive match right now until Amelia Island (starts April 8, 2002) the question must be: "Is Martina still the best Doubles choice for Anna?"!!! What is your opinion??
After all, this is disappointing once again - Martina now pulled out of the Doubles competition with Anna for the 4th (!!) time just THIS YEAR (Sydney, Tokyo, Indian Wells, Key Biscayne)! Frustrating but don't get me wrong: Martina blames injury for her decision and I don't doubt this in general - it is just frustrating for Anna because she doesn't get the match practise she really needs to find back her rhyhtm and form!
MTV Making the Video at 10:30 CET tomorrow: I already was lucky that I turned on MTV today at 17:00 CET - MAKING THE VIDEO of Enrique Iglesias' "Escape" - Anna has a great sense of humour but I will never like what she did in this Video! Anyway, hard for me but HER decision. She is an absolutely awesome person for sure and of course I am a bit jealous, too.
YOU can see this "Access all areas: Making the Video" TOMORROW, Saturday March 30, 2002 from 10:30 to 11:00 CET!

Spice Girls defeat Schett/Farina Elia in 2 sets / Anna at Hamburg 2002? / Anna at Haas-Match
Great work Spice Girls - 6:3,6:3-victory vs Schett/Farina Elia in the 2nd Round Doubles Match! Anna and Martina lead 3:0 in the 2nd and it was an relatively easy victory for them. Now they are in the Quarterfinal already but I couldn't find out their opponents yet. This QF-Match will most likely take place on Thursday!
Anna at Hamburg 2002?: Thanx to Christian
Mönch - he told me to take a look at
SAT1-Videotext-Page 206...! According to Infos there
Anna gets a Wildcard for the Tournament in Hamburg
at the end of April!!! If she plays there like in
2000 I will be there, too. HOPEFULLY!
Anna at Haas-Match: Anna has been spotted
sitting in the audience next to Nick Bollettieri
during Haas' Match vs Pavel! Reportedly she cheered
a lot for Tommy but hey, both know each other since
years because both trained at Bollettieris famous
Tennis Academy for years.

Straight sets win for Spice Girls in 1st Round / Eurosport-F***K
Anna and Martina won their 1st Round Doubles match vs Irvin/Stevenson in straight sets 7:5,6:2! In the 1st set both struggled with their serve but in the 2nd everything went how everyone expected. In the 2nd Round the "Spice Girls" will meet Barbara Schett and Silvia Farina Elia! This match is scheduled for today on Court 1 once again. The Schedule:
Court 1 - Match play starts at 11am
Federer vs Portas
Haas vs Pavel
Farina Elia vs Seles
Raymond/Stubbs vs Navratilova/Zvereva
Anna/Martina vs Farina Elia/Schett
It might be good that Farina Elia has a tough Singles match before the Doubles match, she might be a bit tired after her match vs Seles. Both Doubles teams last met back in Moscow last year (October 5, 2001) in the semifinal - Anna and Martina easily won 6:1,6:1 on route to their 10th Doubles Title as a team! So if nothing unpredictable happens Anna and Martina shouldn't have much problems with Babsi and Farina Elia! Full today's schedule | estimated start time of the match: 23:30-1:00 CET (depending on how long the other matches will take)!
Eurosport-F***K:
SORRY - I've read in a german TV magazine that there
SHOULD be a Portrait of Anna at 16h45 CET today but
obviously Eurosport just showed the normal Eurosport
Newsreport and NOTHING ELSE - sorry, it wasn't my
fault. Blame the TV magazine for it!

1st Round Doubles today on Court 1 / bild.de
Anna and Martina play Doubles 1st Round today vs Irvin/Stevenson. They play on Court 1, see the schedule for this Court:
Match play starts at 11am (complete today's schedule)
Escude vs Chela
Irvin vs Shaughnessy
Maleeva vs Stevenson
Reeves vs Seles
Anna/Martina vs Irvin/Stevenson
Very interesting that both, Irvin AND Stevenson, have to play Singles before. Martina also has to play Singles on Grandstand prior to this Doubles match but Poutchek shouldn't be such a tough opponent. So the freshest player obviously should be Anna - hopefully both can stay on the winning road! Both haven't lost a Doubles match this year so far - in Sydney Final Martina withdrew and both didn't play the Final (9 wins in 2002)!

No Doubles today / Bye Munich / Martina,Ashley,Eleni about Anna / Comment
Iand Martina don't play Doubles today although I thought it would be today! Well, of course I am still frustrated about Anna's loss against Daniilidou.
Bye Munich: The WTA finally
decided that the season-ending Tournament
(Sanex
Championships) will take place in the USA again - in
Los Angeles, Staples Center!
A very fair decision - 6 of 10 people are from the
USA!! Nothing more to say about...
Martina,Ashley,Eleni about Anna: Read
interesting things what other players recently had
to say about Anna - Martina Hingis:
Q. Speaking of Anna, how much time has your mum
actually spent helping her on the court?
MARTINA HINGIS: It's more for the doubles also that
she tells her a few things in the singles. But she
has a very demanding schedule. I mean, she's playing
like almost every week. So, helping on the court,
sometimes it's more difficult to -- for a player to
also really use it in the matches. So, I mean, she's
using it sometimes, but especially in the doubles. I
mean, it's worked very well. But singles is still a
different story. It's also believing in it and
believing in yourself that you can do it.
I agree with Martina - Anna has to regain confindence and has to believe again in her SERVE and her game in general!
ELENI DANIILIDOU:
Q. Seemed like the crowd was really behind Anna.
Did that bother you at all?
ELENI DANIILIDOU: No. I knew it from the beginning
anyway. I mean, she's a great player, she's a big
name. Anyway, I have some, let's say, Greek friends
outside who really help me. And I was positive in
the court, but Anna make more mistake in the match.
And when she make the mistake, I was there and I
finish the point.
Q. Well, I will say that you could be the next Anna
Kournikova in looks. You're very pretty. So, I do
believe you beat Anna Kournikova twice: On the field,
and being very beautiful, too.
ELENI DANIILIDOU: I mean, as I said before, I played
really good today and I played my game and I was
every point fighting almost. Almost, except two,
three games, I lose concentration. But in the first
set I felt a little bit my legs and I probably pull
a little bit the muscle.
Q. Could you tell that Anna was getting a little
frustrated out there?
ELENI DANIILIDOU: Probably, yeah. Probably. Maybe
she feel a little press, I mean she's playing in the
country of here. I think it's normal.
But as I say in the beginning, I mean, I was there
and finally she make more mistake than me.
Eleni won't become a second Anna because Anna is unique!
ASHLEY HARKLEROAD:
Q. Do you like the comparisons of America's version
of Kournikova at this point?
ASHLEY HARKLEROAD: No, not really.
Q. Why not?
ASHLEY HARKLEROAD: I'm not really like her. I'm a
whole different person. I don't think she's very
friendly. And, you know, she's very pretty, but I
mean, I try and be more perky I guess. I don't know.
I just try and enjoy it. I haven't really talked to
her, but I don't really think I'm like her that much.
Q. I mean, kind of --?
ASHLEY HARKLEROAD: Looks-wise?
Q. Yeah.
ASHLEY HARKLEROAD: I try not to focus on that that
much.
Q. When you're saying she's not very friendly, is
that a personal experience?
ASHLEY HARKLEROAD: I mean, I don't know. I mean, I
just don't really see her talking that much to
people in the locker room. But I don't know.
Q. She's never won, yet she's won millions of
dollars --?
ASHLEY HARKLEROAD: Yeah, but she's a good tennis
player though. Top 10 in the world, you have to give
her some credit. She's done good. It's not easy out
there. I think she's a good player. I don't think
she cares too much if she's won a major tennis
tournament or anything.
She doesn't see Anna talking much in the locker room
with others - how often has she seen Anna there on
the WTA Tour so far????! At least she gives her
credit for being a world-class tennisplayer!
(Thanx to saff76ar and juggler for posting these
quotes)
Comment: Who else is wondering about these
STUPID questions Anna was asked after her Loss vs
Daniilidou??? I mean how many million times she was
already asked if she is distracted by the public
hype around her??? Why is no one asking her if she
intends to hire a COACH????! Really ridiculous
questions in the end of the Interview after the loss
vs Eleni!

The crisis is there - 5:7,3:6-Defeat against Daniilidou / 1st Round-pictures / Anna-Songs
I was thinking about how to begin this News-Report but I still don't know it! Anna lost 5:7,3:6 against little known Eleni Daniilidou in the 1st Round of the Nasdaq 100 Open. It must have been (another) real bad performance by Anna with many many unforced errors (23 in the 1st set) and Anna doesn't seem to be able to hold her service at the moment. I am so frustrated that I am really speechless right now. I totally agree with STEAM who started this Discussion-Thread about this terrible Defeat! Quotes from there: "She's turning into a joke" (carling), "seems happy losing" (Oct_1), "everyone is progressing, but Anna isn't" - ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
But have a look at the Interview. Some comments from Anna which are really hardly to understand for me: "I think that the reason for this loss is that I don't have enough matches" => WHAT??? Start winning Anna and you will get more matches! It is normal that when you exit touraments in the 1st Rounds (especially 2-week-Tournaments) you don't play very often! And: "Just have to start playing more and that's it" => Ridiculous Anna. Is this really what you are thinking?? I doubt this! YOU HAVE TO GET A COACH AND WORK ON YOUR GAME, especially your weak service! YOU HAVE TO REBUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE. You can train 24 hours a day but if you don't work on your weaknesses NOTHING will ever change!
I was really frightened that I could wake up this morning and Anna lost in 2 sets and doesn't realize that something has to change IMMEDIATELY - Well, the nightmare has become truth! ANNA, WHAT ELSE HAS TO HAPPEN THAT YOU FINALLY REALIZE THAT YOU NEED A REAL COACH????

Anna vs Daniilidou at 7:00pm / Anna and Martina play Doubles / Training Picture / Adidas-Climacool-Commercial / Sorry / AWARDED
Anna vs Eleni Daniilidou from Greece takes place TODAY at 7:00pm on Stadium court! This is Anna's first match back in Miami (the 5th biggest Tournament of the season, biggest after the 4 Slams) since March 27, 2000 where she lost in the Round of 16 vs Monica Seles 1-6,6-3,0-6! I have read that Daniilidou is able to play more powerful than Anna so she should be warned. OF COURSE has all the abilities necessary to win against Daniilidou and set up a match against Capriati in the 2nd Round but this relatively unknown first round opponent is definitely no easy opponent for Anna. For me as a German this means that the match starts at 1:00 am CET Friday morning. Full Schedule for today
Anna and Martina play Doubles: Both confirmed
to play Doubles at the Nasdaq 100 Open and their
first round opponents are Marissa Irvin (USA) &
Alexandra Stevenson (USA)! Anna and Martina are

Anna faces Daniilidou / Anna&Porsche / Anna's house?
Anna faces Eleni Daniilidou in the 1st round of the Nasdaq 100 Open in Miami! Who is Daniilidou? may be your question! Well, I also know hardly anthing about her but she won at least 1 set against Capriati in the 3rd Round of this year's Aussie Open!! Anna shouldn't underestimate her but for sure she won't! In the 2nd Round Anna would face Jennifer Capriati!!! Once again not an easy draw for Anna but unlike Venus Anna has already beaten Capriati several times - last time in an Exhibition at Tampa on December 14, 2001! So Anna should know how to beat Capriati! But first of all she has to win against Daniilidou (from Greece) which shouldn't be quite easy as it may look! Full Singles Main Draw | Discuss the Draw
I don't know if this match vs Daniilidou will take place tomorrow or on Thursday - check back the "Daily Schedule" here to stay keep infor

Miami-Draw today / new Rankings / Omega-Dubai 02
Later today the Draw for the Nasdaq 100 Open will be done. I will publish it as soon as it is out!
Hopefully Anna gets a favourable draw but on the other hand she also had a quite good draw in Indian Wells but she simply couldn't win against Osterloh. Hopefully Anna doesn't have another "black day" in her 1st Round-match in this important TierI-Tournament!
new Rankings: Anna improved her Singles
Ranking by 2 spots today and is currently ranked
65th in the world. Hopefully she can secure more
points in Miami! In Doubles Anna also moved up 2
places to 13 despite that she didn't play Doubles
since winning the Aussie Open on January 25, 2002!
In the "Race to the Championships" Anna
unfortunately lost 3 places and is now ranked 12th
in Singles with a total of 481 points. In Doubles
she remains No3 together with Martina Hingis and 975
points!
Omega-Dubai 02: Unbelievable - there was
another presentation at an Omega store and I didn't
find it out until now!!! Anna was at the Omega-Store
in the landmark "City Centre" shopping mall in Dubai
on February 18, 2002 (one day before her 1st match
there against Sfar).

Martina about Anna / Anna at Acapulco-Interview / Berlin - I am coming / News policy changed / Eurosport / German Charts / anna-fans.com / Mailinglist available again
I found this Interview with Martina Hingis today - most likely from Indian Wells:
"Q. You've been playing with Anna this year. Do you
see any progression from last summer to now or do
you think she's kind of stuck in a place where her
body hasn't come back?
MARTINA HINGIS: She played a lot of tournaments this
year so far.
Q. No great results, though.
MARTINA HINGIS: She played well at two semifinals
at the smaller tournaments. The other ones -
actually, Tokyo she made semis where she beat
Dementieva. She missed like last season. Like
eight months is a long time to get back into the
shape she was before. Also I think mentally it's
always going to be more difficult to believe in
herself, that she really can win a tournament or
just come back and play well, because those girls
she's been playing, they improved, as well. She
would have to step it up another notch, too. It just
comes slowly by surely. I'm practicing with her.
I try to help her. Playing doubles with her. It
will take some time probably.
Q. But do you believe she can get to the Top 10
again?
MARTINA HINGIS: Well, she definitely has the game.
She has the strokes. You know, sometimes she rushes
a little bit too much. I mean, she was able to beat
Top-10 players in the past. She beat me once. She
beat Lindsay. She beat other ones. She made the
finals of Key Biscayne and Hilton Head. She's had
the game. Semis Wimbledon, right. She's still
young, too. She's even younger than me.
...
Q. Some have suggested in the cold light of day if
Anna doesn't get a professional level coach at this
point, make progress, she could have real problems
with her career.
MARTINA HINGIS: Sometimes it's all about the
attitude, too. You just have to have professional
surroundings. I think her mom, it's great that
she's still around, and her dad. She had
professional people. She tried to have a fitness
trainer and massage therapist at all the tournaments.
You know, she did a lot of work. Her game needs
to be assessed to what she could do, you know.
Even my mom is helping her out,
too."
A very very interesting assessment from Martina I think who doesn't blame Anna for not having won a Singles Title yet. But she also says that Anna's game has to be assessed right now! Interesting but not really new: Melanie (Martina's mom) is helping Anna as well - in the next couple of months both will play almost all tournaments together so both can train together and Anna will definitely get her game together again!
Anna at Acapulco-Interview: I found an
interesting article (Thanx to saff76ar) out of
ACAPULCO CLUB magazine (ESP):
This is what it basically says: She tried to be nice
to the press all the time and gave interviews after
each match with the exception of the last match
against Srebotnik. She had 10 bodyguards that didn't
let people get near her in a 2 meters distance; she
didn't care that people went to her games to watch
her body as long as they went and enjoyed the tennis
as well, her life was the same as any other teenager
the only difference is that she's been playing since
she was 5, she has no idea what she'd do if she
weren't playing tennis.
She was asked about the video rumours: "I don't
know why they keep calling me a model, those
activities don't take much of my time and they don't
affect my training. I did most of my publicity stuff
while I was injured and now that I'm fully recovered
I'll dedicate myself a 100% to tennis and I'm really
looking forward to the summer tournaments, to take
part in them and and climb up in the ranking."
She said she was going to play there again next year
and would try to convince Martina to do so as well.
Berlin - I am coming: Anna committed to play there
and so I will be there too - see my ticket for the
opening monday of the German Open!
News policy changed: I looked at the News I
published during the last few days and was SHOCKED -

PICTURES OF ANNA&ENRIQUE / Stories / Amelia Island-Commitment
Now I saw the first two pictures from ANNA AND ENRIQUE AT A ROMANTIC DINNER - alloverpress.com - go "Login to Site" and at "Search for" type in "Anna Kournikova" - there you will find the pictures! According to the Date they were made this must have been on monday at Toronto, most likely after Enrique's concert there. Although the pics aren't very sharp I think you can recognize both and really say that these are Anna and Enrique! (Thanx to Irene who provided me with these Details)
So, I am a little bit frustrated because NOW it really seems that both have an ongoing relationship...and I liked Sergej much more as a partner for Anna! But in the end it is her life and if she's happy then it is ok!
Stories:
Well, some "news" about the "story of the week" -
ANNA AT ENRIQUE'S TORONTO-CONCERT - According to a translated spanish report about this
concert Anna was there but Enrique didn't know it
(?!?!?!)! Then he spotted her in one of the front
rows and advised his staff to bring her to the
backstage area where both reportedly talked with
each other and afterwards disappeared together (most
likely to the restaurant for the so-called "romantic
dinner").
More
In another version of her Toronto-concert-appearance Janie (wtaworld.com-registered User) said that Anna HAD to attend the concert due to her contract she signed for the musicvideo. This contract should include "continuing publicity appearances for Enrique's Album" stated Janie! More

Anna to play Hamburg? / Concerts / UK-Spot in TV / Rankings / Award-Voting
Will Anna play in Hamburg (April 29 - May 5)?! The Commitments are out (wtaworld.com - General) and Anna isn't on that list but okay, the list is dated February 14, 2002 so the last word isn't spoken yet. I think if Anna decides to play there she can still request a wildcard a few days before the Tournament starts! Hopefully she plays there because then I would be there, too.
Concerts: More and more people are saying in
messageboards (Anna's and Enrique's) that
Anna HAS
BEEN SEEN at the Toronto-Concert on Monday March 11!
Accordingly to what I have read Anna flew to Toronto
straight before Enrique's concert and was spotted at
the Side Control Panel during the concert! I also
heard that she has been seen in Montreal on Tuesday.
Like I said yesterday - I haven't seen pictures yet but more and more people are saying that she WAS there. Why should they lie??? Anna has this week off and after the Sushibar- and Boottrip-pics I really don't know what to think right now. After all: It is Anna's life and she can do whatever she wants but personally I don't like him and this probably will never change!
UK-Spot in TV: In RTL-punkt12-VIP (german TV
channel) there was a small report about Anna's
UK-Adidas-Commercial - beautiful Anna! It is likely
that other TV magazines also feature reports today:
ZDF "Leute heute" (17:45 CET), RTL "Exclusiv" (18:30
CET), SAT1 "Blitz" (19:00 CET)! Watch these shows
and perhaps you also see a report like the one I
have just seen!
Rankings: Anna will improve her Singles
Ranking by
moving up
to 65 next monday
when the new Singles Rankings are released after
Indian Wells is over! Why? She only scored 1 point
with her 1st Round-Defeat against Osterloh but due
to the fact that she hasn't played 17 Tournaments
yet ALL points count. Plus she has no points to
defend from last year! Sidenote: The
WTA Ranking System says that within a year only the points out of the
17 best Tournament performances count for the
Ranking position!
Award-Voting: Have a look at the
banner right at the bottom and
vote for your favorite Anna-Website!

Bollettieri advices Anna to hire a coach / UK-Adidas-Commercial / Anna at concerts?
Nick Bollettieri talked about Anna at tennisreporters.net and there she advised her to HIRE A NEW COACH. He spoke to her recently and admitted that both, Anna and Alla, "aren't silly" and are well aware of the coaching problem. He also said that Anna should hire a new coach within a year otherwise it would be "too late"! More
In my opinion Anna should finally hire a new coach, everyone says that this would be the best and so do I. It is obvious that the current coaching situation isn't the best solution. So Anna, GET A NEW COACH and improve your serve as well as your match strategy (bring your brilliant abilities at the NET into your Singles play more as you did in the past)!
UK-Adidas-Commercial: According to Steam Anna only shows up in the end of this commercial for about 5 seconds but anyway - Daily Mail-Article | Daily Mail-Picture | german BILD-article (also in the printed Version today)
Anna at concerts?: It was reported yesterday by the Toronto SUN that Anna was seen in the audience of Enrique's concert in Toronto and according to OCT she was also seen at the Montreal-concert yesterday (one member of the enriqueiglesias.com-Fan Forum reportedly said this)!
Well, once again I have to say that I don't believe ANYTHING someone reportedly has seen until I see PICTURES as a proof! For the time being all this stuff is just unconfirmed and I doubt it!

More about Anna & Enrique (sorry,no other news)
Yes, you are still on annforever.de! I just read at this Thread on wtaworld.com that REPORTEDLY Enrique was in the official Tokyo-Tournament-Hotel when Anna played there at the end of January 2002.
Well, I would like to present more reliable and TENNIS-News but I couldn't find any. My opinion hasn't changed - as long as I don't hear anything from Anna (and SEE her saying this) saying whether the relationship-rumors are true or false I DON'T believe all this gossip published by SUN etc.!
Oh SUN - according to the TORONTO SUN Anna was spotted in the audience of Enrique's concert in Toronto yesterday - this is what the very reliable paper says:
"Among those attending last night was Iglesias' current girlfriend and video co-star (for the title track from Escape), tennis babe Anna Kournikova."
I want to quote saff76ar because he seems to think the same as me: "Don't know wether it's true or not but it could be since she's resting this week." I also don't know but I DON'T believe anything until I see at least a picture as a proof!

Martina unsure if she plays Doubles with Anna / news-iframes
Martina beat Likhovtseva yesterday 6:3,6:3 and afterwards she made the following comment concerning her Doubles play with Anna at Key Biscayne:
Q: Are you going to play Doubles with Anna at Key Biscayne?
Martina: "I will try to, yes, depending on how I finish here. Yes, I want to. Here I would have played as well, if my wrist wasn't bothering me. I felt like if I give it a little bit extra, just focus on the Singles, it will be better for my wrist. It shouws how it is."
So chances are I assume 50/50 and I don't know - if Martina says YES and in the last minute NO again then perhaps Anna should consider to search another Doubles partner. I really like the Spice Girls very very much but what does it bring if she waits for Martina who turnes her focus on Singles??? Hopefully Martina's wrist is okay and both will play!

Anna seeded at RG? / Enrique denies everything / Martina about Anna / thanx jojoseph
What is necessary for Anna to get to No.32 in the Rankings before Seedings for Roland Garros are done after Rome???! Well, let's have a look at the Rankings right now - Torrens-Valero is 32th with 900 points. This amount of points is necessary for Anna so this would mean that Anna has to score about 60/70 points at each Tournament. The most likely schedule for Anna until Roland Garros:
Key
Biscayne (week 12+13, Tier-I, Hardcourt)
Amelia Island (week 15, Tier-II, Green Clay)
Charleston (week 16, Tier-I, Green Clay)
Hamburg (week 18, Tier-II, Red Clay)
Berlin (week 19, Tier-I, Red Clay)
Rome (week 20, Tier-I, Red Clay)
5
(6 including Hamburg but this is not confirmed yet)
Tournaments left for Anna and it is possible for
Anna if she manages to play a bit better than in her
last 2 matches! A normal-playing Anna without any
injury signs like in Dubai or Acapulco and No.32
should be possible! Hopefully Anna doesn't perform
as in Indian Wells anymore which must have been an
absolutely black day for Anna!
But let's have a positive look into the future -
Anna can do it and as a seeded player the Draw for
the 2nd Grand Slam of her comeback would be much
more easier. Remember Aussie Open this year - Anna
had to face Henin due to her low Ranking - as a
seeded player this wouldn't happen to her in Paris.
Enrique
denies everything: No personal comment from me
because the whole Enrique-thing isn't my favorite
topic, just for information, thanx to CC
who posted it on wtaworld.com - "He was
on VH1's Fresh Pick and Zeke asked him why they
chose Anna for the video. He said they just wanted
someone no one would expect. He also joked and said
that it was only in his videos that he gets
surrounded by beautiful girls. He said the herpes
thing is not true, plus the shoot was on
"Making the Video" so if it were true then
people would have seen. He also said contrary to
reports they are not going out together. Then Zeke
asked him how was Anna's breath, and he said
she has lovely breath, but his is terribly. Funny.
(Then while the video was playing across the screen
they listed the other tennis babes as 1. Jennifer
Capriati 2. Martina Hingis 3. Williams Sisters.
There was also the question: Does Anna even play
tennis anymore?)"
How was Anna's breath - what a "great" and question. Anna would just say "no comment" probably! Ridiculous!
Additional stuff to this topic, apparently from an Interview with Enrique (the same one???):
Enrique
on Anna:
So what's the real story?
"The story came out in the newspaper that I
didn't want to kiss Anna Kournikova in the
video."
Is that true?
"No! Do I look that stupid. You know. It was
completely the opposite way around. She didn't
want to kiss me."
Was she nice to work with? She has a reputation of
being a bit of a madam.
"She does? Oh no, she was great. She was
fun."
I don't believe what is written or said by him! Have you ever heard Anna saying ANYTHING to the whole Anna&Enrique-thing??? - I don't!
Martina
about Anna: In a teleconference from February
19, 2002 Martina said the following:
Q. You had your share of doubles partners. Is there anything about the partnership with Anna that makes you think you click especially well?
MARTINA HINGIS: Yeah, we just get along very well, and it's just a team where the team spirit works very well with her. We're about the same age, have the same interests. On the court, the chemistry has worked very well together.
thanx
jojoseph: I want to say a big THANK YOU that you
created an extra Thread
at the official Messageboard to make people
aware of my Videostore.
All US-Guys - unfortunately I can only offer
PAL-System (Europe-Standard) and not your
NTSC-System but as far as I know there should be
VCRs available which can playback VHS-Tapes which
were recorded in PAL-System.

Anna gets Miami-WC / Match-Report / Leno vs Anna once again
Anna has been guaranteed a Wildcard into the 96-player-field in Miami (March 20-31, 2002)! Anna towards the Nasdaq 100 Open (former Ercisson Open and Lipton Championships) - "The Nasdaq-100 Open is one of the biggest tournaments of the year,...I have always enjoyed playing in Miami." The DRAW will be done on March 18, 1pm and hopefully Anna can perform better than recently vs Osterloh! But I think we should "forget" this match and look forward into the future!
Match
Report: Thanx to Mashie00 - he was LIVE at the
match Anna-Osterloh and has this to say about: "I
had a great time at the Tennis today. All though I
was very disappointed in the way Anna Played today.
I'm know tennis expert but she basically gave the
match to Osterloh. She had so many double faults I
couldn't even count them all. I was so excited as a
fan to see her play and it was over so quick. I did
get to see her practice for about an hour with Kim
Clijsters and that was very cool."
Leno
vs Anna once again: On
thursday evening Jay Leno said the following in his
show-monologue: "Plans are now being discussed
to change the rules of professional tennis. They say
with a couple of rule changes and some luck, it
might one day be possible for Anna Kournikova to
actually win a match." - SHUT UP Leno! Why
can't you leave Anna alone???
Anna has now 1 week off before playing in Miami. I am trying to find out more details for you!

Martina pulls out of Doubles due to wrist injury
Time fo a chance of luck I think - Martina pulled out of the Doubles in Indian Wells due to tendonitis. She injured her wrist in practise and even her Singles participation is in doubt. Thread about it | sport1.de-Report ! To be honest: This isn't SUCH a big surprise but it's disappointing as well. I don't share the opinion of some who say that Martina leaves Anna in the cold always (San Diego 2002, Wimbledon 1999, Indian Wells 2002) because she always did this and IS doing this because of injuries, not because she intends to do so! Well, just in Wimbledon 1999 she simply didn't act matured after her 1st Round-Defeat in Singles and she decided to leave London! Without this injury for sure Martina would have played with Anna in Doubles!
Perhaps this is even a good chance for Anna to get some rest after one tournament after the other so far this year. She has now some time to recover before the Nasdaq 100 Open in Miami where Anna lives. Hopefully she will be back stronger and with MORE CONSISTENCY in her game!
PS: Jojoseph - I already try to fix the problem with the Audiofile!

Osterloh upset Anna 6:1,6:4 - what is going on Anna? / Analysis & opinion
I have to say it short because it is really more than just depressing: ANNA LOST 1-6,4-6 vs Liliah Osterloh! The match took for just 1 hour, Anna became more and more frustrated during the match as she noticed that NOTHING seemed to work in her game. "In general, nothing went my way today...concentrating and being mentally there is the toughest side of it right now for me"concentrating and being mentally there is the toughest side of it right now for me"! Anna committed 44 unforced errors, 11 Double Faults and won only 12 points in the 1st set! "I was struggling with my whole game" - right Anna but WHY WHY WHY??? Of course this was another surface and she had to get used to it (red clay last week) but other players have the same problem and they seem to be able to handle it! 12 Pics from the 1st Round | Report | Interview-Pic | Match-Pic | Discuss the match
Anna and Martina AREN'T scheduled to play Doubles today!
PS: What a unbearable sad day - once again! :-(((((
Analysis
& Opinion: Oh Anna, this huge defeat should
really start to make you think about your current
situation. I don't know if this neck injury from
Acapulco still affected your game, perhaps you still
thought on it, but I doubt that this influenced your
game. How can your thoughts be anywhere else than on
the court at the match you are playing??? Too many
tournaments this year??? Oh Anna, I really start to
think the worst thing after reading your comments
today and after the Acapulco-Defeat: Are YOU
starting to DOUBT YOUR ABILITIES???! Hopefully not
because this would be the beginning of the end.
Anna, change something: Hire a new coach and work on
your consistency. YOU HAVE all the tennis skills to
take it to the Top of the Rankings once again - just
in your head you don't seem to be free enough and
when you once feel that you don't get into the match
then you lose most of the times the whole match! I
don't know what has to happen exactly but Anna, try
and change something. It can only get better than it
is right now! I am still a big big fan of you and
this I want to stay - please get better and more
consistent somehow!

Anna vs Osterloh LIVE / Anna & Martina play
Anna - Osterloh 1:3 at 22:17h CET - follow the score LIVE and hope with me that Anna will WIN!!! Both never played each other!
Anna
& Martina play: Both said that they plan to
play the big tournaments this year and so they do!
The Australian Open-Champions face Henin/Shaughnessy
in 1st Round and are 4th seeded! The Doubles Draw is
really strong in Indian Wells - have a look at
possible next round Opponents:
2nd
Round: Coetzer/McNeil
QF: Hantuchova/Sanchez-Vicario (5)
SF: Raymond/Stubbs (2)
F: Black/Likhovtseva (1)
This is an really strong Doubles Field and I am really looking forward to the possible Aussie Open-Rematches in QF and SF! Of course Anna and Martina are the best team and all the other pairs (although better seeded) should be a little bit scared when they face the Spice Girls! GO SPICE GIRLS - repeat 1999! The 1st Match in Doubles will probably take place tomorrow!
March 6, 2002
Anna vs Osterloh 3rd match on Stadium court
Anna plays her 1st match in Indian Wells today vs Liliah Osterloh - 3rd match on Stadium Court!See:
Stadium Court - match play starts at 10 am
Tu
vs Dominikovic
Irvin vs Ruano-Pascual
Kournikova vs Osterloh
So I assume that this means that Annas match starts at approx. 23:00-0:00 CET today (Indian Wells is CET -9 hours)! Osterloh isn't playing well right now (3-match losing streak) so Anna should win normally!

Indian Wells-Draw / Ranking News / Links working?
The Indian Wells-Singles-Draw has been released and Anna faces Liliah Osterloh in the 1st Round, either tomorrow or on Thursday. Both never met before on the WTA Tour. If Anna manages to win which should come true if everything goes the normal way, Anna will gain 24 points to increase her Rankings. Further opponents for Anna:
2nd
Round vs Martinez (a win worth 22 points)
3rd Round vs Farina (a win worth 52 points)
Today I don't want to look further but overall this is a good draw for Anna as she faces none of the "big names" like in Paris, Antwerp and Dubai! Check out wtaworld.com (-> Current Tournaments) for the FULL Singles Main Draw!
Ranking
News: Anna improves her Singles Ranking this
week by 13 positions!!! She is now currently ranked
67th in the world. In Doubles no Changes (still
15th) but in the "Race to
Championships"-Rankings: In Singles she is now
9th (480 pts), in Doubles unfortunately not longer
No1 - No3 together with Martina (975 pts)! Very
interesting: Anna and Torrens-Valero are the only 2
players who have already played 8 (!!!) tournaments
in 2002 (among the Top100 in Race to
Championships-Ranking).
Links
working?: Finally I decided to made it
absolutely simple - if the Pictures-section are
still or partially not available please
inform me but I really don't understand WHY this
problem occured at all!

New UK-Adidas-Commercial
Another TV Commercial comes up in the UK on March 11, 2002! Anna's new UK-Adidas-Commercial for the new Adidas ClimaCool Sports Shoes. Anna as Marilyn Monroe trying to keep her skirt down... SUN-Article | Picture
DON'T start thinking that Anna is doing on commercial after the other right now - as far as I know Anna did this commercial straight after her 2nd Round-Exit from Dubai on February 20. She flew to London afterwards and probably did this commercial on Februay 21, 2002! This is what I think!
March 3, 2002
Annas new commercial at Acapulco beach / new Poll
Anna did another commercial at Acapulco-beach! See the overwhelming pictures with Anna! I think that this commercial was done yesterday and most likely it is for the cell phone company Anna has a contract with since years!
Now I am looking for News about Indian Wells, Annas next Tournament. Hopefully the neck injury wasn't serious but I dont't think so!
new
Poll: I startet a new poll so please vote! When
I take a look at the result of the last one I am
glad to see that only a few of you want to see Anna
doing MORE Offcourt-things! Most have the same
opinion as I that Anna should try to become mentally
tougher and the first Singles Title will come soon!
March 2, 2002
NO NO NO - Anna lost in the Semis / Personal note
The world is not fair - Anna LOST 7:5,3:6,1:6 in the semis of the Mexican Open vs Katarina Srebotnik! Is this fair?? Anna really deserves her first Singles Title, doesn't she? And more: She also hurt her NECK during a return at the net - "I had a sharp shooting pain and I couldn't move," she said after the match. "I thought about it and it felt worse. It was a pretty stupid little thing, and it cost me the match, probably.'' - "It's strange. Everything which could have gone wrong went wrong." Anna, this isn't fair. You already had so many injuries...! When will be time when destiny decides that you DESERVE your first Title because you LOVE Tennis???! Hopefully this isn't serious injury because more important than ANY victory is Anna's health!
Next week Anna will play in Indian Wells at the Pacific Life Open! Probably she will play Doubles again with Martina which I would really love to see (remember 1999...)!
Personal
note: I have just seen a match report at CNN
World Sport - I have never seen Anna serving
UNDERHANDED in all these years!!! She must have had
really big pain in her neck, even after treatment!
Anna, consider to retire from time to time instead
of risking real big injury!! I am very frustrated
because it is so unfair for Anna - NOTHING has
worked in her match yesterday, she points it out
herself by saying "Everything
which could have gone wrong went wrong." This
is really so unfair but I also heard that Anna said
sth. like "wake up tomorrow practise
again"! Anna won't let this "string of
setbacks" bother her, this is what the report
also told! I just hope that Anna finally has some
luck in the future, she had (and unfortunately still
seems to HAVE) enough bad luck :-(

Sweet Anna through to the semis / IW-Preview / Take a look...
It is Annas 1st Tournament on Clay since the French Open 2000 (!) but Anna performs GREAT at this surface - she won her 3rd straight match against Jeanette Husarova in ther Quarterfinal 6:3,6:4 which means that Anna enters the Round of the last 4 without having lost one single set!!! Today she faces Katarina Srebotnik in the Semifinal and as far as I can remember both played each other only once back in 1999 (French Open Doubles Round 16) and Anna won together with Martina! Annas chances of winning her first ever SINGLES Title on the WTA Tour increases more and more which is simply wonderful to see! Here is the Schedul for today:
Center Court Match play starts at 2:00 p.m.
Kournikova
vs Srebotnik
Dementieva vs Suarez
For me as a European this means 21:00 CET when the Semifinal-Match starts! On the other side of the Draw Dementieva (her QF-opponent retired after 6-4) meets Suarez who surprisingly beat Coetzer!!! Hopefully Anna and Elena advance to the Final tomorrow and this would be a really really breathtaking final because neither Anna nor Elena won a Singles Tropy yet. God, after so many injuries ANNA REALLY DESERVES TO FINALLY WIN HER 1ST SINGLES TITLE!!
QF-Pictures: Pic 1 | Pic 2 | Pic 3 | Pic 4 | Pic 5 | Pic 6
IW-Preview:
In Indian Wells at the Pacific
Life Open starting next week the following Top
players won't play: Davenport, Mauresmo, S.Williams,
V.Williams, Capriati! This means that Anna has a
GREAT chance to gain many many points to improve her
Ranking!
Take
a look...: Now I decided to establish this part
on the main page to show you UNIQUE moments of Annas
Career once again. If you have a suggestion that I
should feature a particular triumph by Anna please
let me know!
