Phone Call with Anna from Friday (January 28th, 2005) - Anna even said the following about her tennis career: "Trust me, there is one thing I would like to do, sooner or later, is to make up my mind because I really don't like to be in this position of uncertainty".... Well.... can it be true that the back injury STILL is an issue!?!?!?! I am no doctor but after nearly 2 years...!!!!!

Tsunami Relief Fund Event - news / recent Anna pics
On January 31st, we will see Anna on the tennis court again - finally!!! She'll participate in the "Serving for Tsunami Relief tennis fund-raiser" at Toyota Center in Houston. The players (Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, Chris Evert, ANNA, perhaps even Andre Agassi) will wear microphones during a mixed doubles match. The Top match will be either McEnroe vs Roddick or Agassi vs Roddick. See detailed infos at the Houston Toyota Center Website!

Anna and Enrique recently in Miami

Well... / Anna and Enrique so close...
Thanx for all the support from you guys who still seem to check back at the AKFS regularly.
But THIS TIME it's different than back in October 2003 when the first real Retirement rumors occured. Why? Easy:
- Anna
doesn't inform us,
neither about tennis
plans, nor about
other plans (just
remember her strange
comments she made at
the WTT Smash Hits
back in October 2004
("Tennis comeback?"-question))
- Who still believes that her back injury is the REAL reason for her "time-out"
- I became a fan of ONCOURT-Anna and was never really happy about her
offcourt activities
SO >> The final

not made! Many many
thoughts currently
cross my mind.
Perhaps I will start
a small Dementieva
fanpage and will
maintain the "basics"
of the AKFS!?!?! I
don't know.
I don't think that
there will be an

Enrique are VERY VERY much in love with each other.
US Weekly reports that an "onlooker" from St.Barths
watched both and he is quoted: "They have such a strong bond you wouldn't believe
it. When they are talking
they're just entranced." Anna and Enrique
reportedly chartered an $80.000 a week yacht with
some friends. On January 7th, both obviously were
back at land to go dancing at St.Bar's Le Ti.
Another "eyewitness": "He had his arm around her and
she had her head on his shoulder - it was sweat."

It's so sad...
Since the tennisreporters.net-article and the exhibition announcements I really believe that it's definitely over...! The whole Tennis world is playing at the Aussie Open and Anna will never come back again :-(((
Well, finally, even I realized that there is absolutely no more reason to hope for a wonder.
I think Anna just pursues some kind of a new career/"image" for her (charity work, maybe acting, a few exhibitions) and she has put Pro Tennis behind her. I even can imagine that she is pregnant soon. Obviously she's already married with Enrique!
BOTTOM LINE: I don't think this website will still exist very long (perhaps a few months). But hey, somehow I think that almost no one cares anyway.

Well, it seems like the tennisreporters.net-article is right - Anna won't come back to the WTA Tour and just plays some tennis exhibitions - so this one as well:

Anna plays to raise money for Tsunami Relief Fund
This is good, Anna! She will play at the "Serving for Tsunami Relief Tennis exhibition" at January 31st (7 p.m.) which will be held in Houston's Toyota Center.
Other players who committed to participate: Jim Courier, Andy Roddick, John McEnroe and Chris Evert. Other celebrities are expected to participate as well.

Thanx to "Oct_1" (moderator of official Messageboard) is a subscriber to tennisreporters.net and he posted a brief summary of the article on the official Messageboard (>> The Tennis >> "Is Anna retired"-Thread).
Basically, the comments came from a source from Anna's camp and it is stated that Anna plans nothing beyond exhibitions, photoshoots and sponsor appearances in 2005 :-(((( Quote from the source: "She's not committed 100 percent to it and knows that if she's not, she doesn't stand a chance of doing well."

Hingis' comeback... / new pics - smoking, Bikini, kissing
I heard of it before but until today, I always thought that she would just "return" for 1 tournament and just for charity reasons. Well, now I read on BILD online (click on "Sport") that she received a wildcard for a tournament in February and if her feet do well, she might decide to comeback to the Tour completely! Great to hear!
PERSONAL COMMENT: Hey Anna, do it like Martina and COME BACK TO THE TOUR instead of delivering revealing and highly unflattering pictures at various beaches...

When the first news??? / new pics
Time goes by, the first WTA Tournaments start and what do we know what Anna intends to do??? NOTHING! The last info was absolutely Offcourt-related once again (the "black band"-stuff, read in below news section)!
Will we see her on the court AT ALL in 2005??? Does she intend to play World Team Tennis, exhibitions once again???
I don't think we still can hope for a WTA comeback - which is already very hard to finally realize...

Anna wearing black band
Well, are they married? Anna was spotted wearing a black band on her wedding finger. She was seen, wearing that black band, when she went for an early-morning breakfast at a cafe near her home on Miami Beach.
Then, after a two-and-a-half hour workout, it was home for a quick change out of her tracksuit and into jeans and a T-shirt for a spending spree at one on Miami's upmarket shopping malls.
During a four-hour expedition to the Village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables, Anna was seen buying sexy lingerie at the Darigi store.
She also shopped for shoes in Jimmy Choo, looked at leather handbags in Bottega Veneta and spent much time browsing round the Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom department stores.
