Hingis talks about Anna / Enrique: Career not over
Martina Hingis was interviewed by german Sport 1 during her trip to the Aussie Open and she also talked about her friend Anna! She recently spoke to her by phone. No more Leipzig :-(((( / Videostore - Add-On / Anna in march
Depressing news for german Tennis fans: The Sparkassen Cup in Leipzig has been cancelled from the renewed 2004 WTA Tour Calendar (September 27 - October 3)! WHY??? The WTA has already cancelled the tournaments in Hannover and Hamburg (Anna has been there only once: 98 in Hannover, 2000 in Hamburg) and now they also shut down the Tier II-event in Leipzig, a tournament where I saw Anna LIVE in 2000 and 2001 (unforgettable memories)!
What's left in German???: Just the German Open in Berlin (reports of financial breakdown appeared already) and the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Filderstad (this tournament doesn't seem to have problems at all)!
PERSONAL COMMENT: That sucks! I loved Leipzig and as far as I know, the tournament didn't have financial problems recently! But the WTA currently seems to focus on Asia!

Anna at Omega-event in St.Moritz (II)
Today I saw NEW reports about Anna's bobrun experience at St.Moritz on January 23, 2004! Eurosport and RTL 2 (News at 8:00pm) were the TV Channels that showed additional reports! At the RTL 2-report it was reported that Anna is already 23 (bad work guys) and, even more frustrating, that she will most likely retire from Pro Tennis in the near future!
Perhaps I will upload these reports but I cannot really compress them as much as I want and my connection is really damn slow :-(((
PERSONAL COMMENT: I still hope that Anna returns but
lately, you only hear about offcourt stuff, no one
even seems to ASK her anymore about a comeback!!!! I
think anything is possible right now!
Anna should remember what she said in October: "We
will see in January" - so let us know Anna!

On today's RTL "Exclusiv" (VIP show) I saw a report Anna in St.Moritz TODAY!!!! Seems that holiday with Enrique is over! It was Omega's annual bobsleigh Cup and Anna even experienced the so-called "Taxi drive" down the Olympia bobrun!!!!

Aussie Open :-(((( / Ranking News / Anna and Enrique - holiday
It is frustrating...! I watch the Australian Open but Anna isn't there. She chose to pose with her love Enrique on her holiday in the Caribbean.......! No Anna at the year's first Grand Slam plus I hear comments like "the new Anna Kournikova" (Sharapova of course)!
The bottom line is: Please come back soon, Anna!
Ranking News: As
of January 19, Anna is ranked 311th in Singles with
unchanged points. As we know, Anna's currently not
having a Doubles Ranking anymore because she played
less than 3 tournaments in the last 52 weeks!

Rankings Explanation / Anna back in march? / Videostore-link works again / AKFS 2003 Special
Like I mentioned yesterday, Anna's name doesn't appear in the Doubles Rankings anymore. Here's why: You have to have played a minimum of 3 tournaments in the last 52 weeks and since Anna lost her Sydney-points from last year, she has only played 2 events in the last 52 weeks. That's why Anna hasn't got a Doubles Ranking anymore - SCARY...!
In Singles, she currently has played 6 events in the last 52 weeks, 5 after the Australian Open in 2 weeks, and she will remain ranked in the Singles Rankings until early April.
I just hope that she will be playing soon again. Anna not ranked in Singles and Doubles anymore - a horrible imagination.

Anna plays Houston exhibition / Anna learning to surf in Australia?
It is now confirmed that Anna will play an exhibition match at the River Oaks International on April 8. The match will take place during the evening session of the men's event. Anna's opponent has not yet been determined. Tournament director Van Barry: "She's a great player, and a lot of her best results have been in doubles." Read full article

been seen down under at Port Macquarie, taking surf
lessons. Anna's major sponsor (Adidas) reportedly
said that Anna isn't in Australia!

Harold Solomon recently was interviewed about his new client, Daniela Hantuchova! He also talks a little bit about Anna! Here all the Anna-related quotes:

PERSONAL COMMENT: I saw Anna working with Harold Solomon in Strasbourg 2002. Unfortunately this was the only time I saw them both (and it was also the last time until now that I saw Anna in real life :-(( )! Yes, the whole attention Anna created and still creates might be a problem but as he said: INJURIES are the main problem why Anna still didn't have the success she deserves!
Leon-match: "Lucyfer" (member of
official messageboard) watched the Leon-match (Exhibition
vs Sanchez-Vicario) and obviously Anna was MUCH
better than Arantxa but she just wanted to entertain
the people. She played strange shots and reportedly
could have beat Arantxa 6:1,6:1!
Well, an exhibition match is simply not a competitive match to gain points for the Rankings!
Anna - Bogomolov jr - Harkleroad: The
New York Post published this story: Anna and Alex
Bogomolov jr (both are friends, played Mixed at the
Australian Open 2003,...) reportedly were holding
hands at Barney's (somewhere in New York, pictures
came out during the US Open 2002)! Of course they
also talk about that Anna possibly cheated on
Enrique! The main news of this report is that Ashley
Harkleroad apparently is now going public with her
engagement to Alex Bogomolov (20)!

China-News?!?!
According to "jasmine-and-anna" (member of official Messageboard) Anna could come to China in June this year! Why?? Reportedly a company is discussing with Anna's management the issue of taking part in some commercial activities and some exhibitions!
PERSONAL COMMENT: Of course she could go to China again for some sort of promotion or exhibitions but in June??? We know that she wants to return to the WTA Tour and in June Roland Garros takes place plus Wimbledon! Both Grand Slams are located far away from China, so I doubt that she will be in China in June!

What to expect? / Anna danced with Britney???
I am a little bit worried: What will be the next Tennis news we will hear from Anna?? Remember what she said at the World Music Awards?? - "WE WILL SEE IN JANUARY"...! Well, IT IS January right now...! In the Interview in Leon (Spain) on December 7th she said: "My dream is to be able to play". Furthermore she said that she doesn't know WHEN she will be able to play again but she'll say so when she's ready! Strange: In her latest Journal entry from late December she didn't mention her injury status or comeback plans at all...!
RIGHT NOW, I don't know anything about any exhibition she might choose to play in the next weeks/months. All I heard of was that she might play an exhibition in Houston in April 2004 but right now nothing is confirmed yet!
So, the bottomline is - we just have to wait and see!
Anna danced with Britney???: Well, it
sounds strange to me but "gbuk" (member of offcial
Messageboard) claims that he saw Anna with Britney
in a dance studio - according to "gbuk" this was

Ranking News / AKFS 2003 Special - still problem
As of today, Anna is ranked 308th in Singles (+2 position) and 174th in Doubles (2 positions up as well)! BUT: Anna's (next :-((( ) big drop in the Ranking is about to come because she will lose points after this year's Australian Open (end day: February 1st) where she reached the 2nd Round in Singles last year!
