PERSONAL COMMENT: Anna's critics can say whatever they want - I am absolutely convinced that Anna was very focused on her pro career. She was very very injury-prone and, well, I think we have to admit that she probably wasn't the most gifted tennis player of all times. BUT: Without all these injuries she could have been a constant Top10-/Top5-player!

It's K-SWISS
Anna is the new spokesperson for K-SWISS!!! She signed a contract with the five-stripe trademark of K-Swiss and shot two TV commercials in Los Angeles (she told us)!
Anna about K-Swiss: "I'm looking forward to working with K-Swiss, and am proud to be involved with a classic tennis brand, known for its performance, elegance and style."
PLUS: She said that she'd post "behind the scens"-pictures and so she did - "Commercial photos"!

PERSONAL COMMENT: K-SWISS - why not? Anna's contract with Adidas obviously wasn't renewed! I am looking forward to see her playing tennis in new outfits. And I really hope that Anna keeps us so much informed as she did this month. Great.

Anna in HD / AK doing TV ads for "major...brand"
Rainbow Media next month will launch a series of special interest programs for cable's HD On Demand service. The show is called "lifeskool" and will provide guidance on issues such as physical fitness! For example, Rainbow will offer a series of "sportskool" fitness videos in HD which also includes tips on tennis from Anna Kournikova. Read more

PERSONAL COMMENT: I would LOVE to see Anna playing Tennis in HD quality! Hopefully this will happen some time in the future.

AK doing TV ads for "major,..brand": It's great - Anna already posted her next Journal entry ("Television commercials") and reveals that she's in Los Angeles this week "shooting 2 television commercials for a major athletic brand." She states that she's the new spokesperson for this company (!!) and the "TV ads will be running nationwide beginning in March and continuing thru the summer months."
She'll also shoot print ads and, very very interesting, a friend of hers will shoot some "behind the scenes" photos and she'll "post them as soon as I can!"

PERSONAL COMMENT: If it would be ADIDAS would it be kept secret? I don't think so. Probably signed a contract with another major athletic brand (Reebok, Nike, Puma,...)!
Plus: A friend takes "behind the scenes" pictures that she'll post as soon as possible on kournikova.com!!!! That's great, especially because kournikova.com wasn't quite regularly updated over the past few years (she's still got a WTA Ranking on the start page!!!).

"Drake1980" (member of WTA World-Board) was lucky enough to see Anna LIVE at the Chicago charity exhibition (Feb 12th)! He couldn't get an autograph from her but reportedly, she signed autographs for about half an hour and seemed very happy. About her weight he stated: "...quite skinny but definitely not unhealthy." PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, I think he's absolutely right. She lost weight and is much skinnier than back in her days as a Pro but she doesn't have an eating disorder.

Anna back in Miami / Grand Rapids HQ's
Anna is back in Miami since February 14th - and she instantly wrote her next Journal Entry called "Back in Miami": She tells us about the results of the 2 exhibitions she's just participated in:

AK at Grand Rapids - comeback "haven't decided" / Chicago pics
Anna participate in the "Ace of Hearts Tennis Tour" at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena on February 13th and she played Mixed Doubles with John McEnroe vs Jim Courier/Jana Novotna.
Before that, Anna was the star of a press conference at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids (see an awesome Video)! She also said that she still hasn't ruled out a comeback completely - "I really don't know that's why I haven't said 'okay that's it I'm done forever' because I really haven't decided. I don't know that myself."

Anna met Quick Hits
Anna met Sun Times Columnist Elliott Harris when she was in Chicago's Sears Center yesterday. She participated in the "Legends of Tennis"-charity event together with Novotna, Courier and McEnroe!

A short interview (about 10 minutes) with Elliott Harris took place and Anna was asked a few questions: "So, what's it like to be a sex symbol?" - anything but a new question for Anna. She replied: "I never felt somebody...was treating me as a piece of meat. I always felt the love and support of the fans."
Furthermore, she was asked to increase Harris' level of tennis and, well, he should come to Florida :-)

Finally, Anna posted her first Journal entry in 2007 (her last one was published on Nov 17, 2006). She's now learning how to cook ("I have taken up cooking") - she talked about that before! Furthermore, she had the flu recently - that was the reason why she didn't show up at the Adidas Y-3 fashion show in New York a few days ago. She talks about the 2 upcoming exhibitions and, that's great to hear, she confirms that she'll be playing WTT again for the Sacramento Capitals this summer ("I also want to mention that I will again be playing in World TeamTennis...")! Anna plays WTT 2007
The 2007 WTT Pro League schedule has been announced on February 5th and, well, it seems that Anna will be playing for the Sacramento Capitals once again :-) She is scheduled to play at the following events:

>> July 5: Springfield Lasers vs Sac.Capitals
>> July 6: Sac.Capitals vs Newport Beach (Home match)
>> July 8: Sac.Capitals vs Houston Wranglers

Team lineups will be completed on March 27th when the WTT holds their annual player draft in Miami - then we'll know for sure. Read more

Today, the 7th part of the Sun Times-Interview has been published - THE question was asked: Might there be a comeback to playing on the women's tour??

Anna: "It's very hard to say...only if I'm 100 percent physically fit...I'm just afraid that it's not going to hold up...but...I'm quite spontaneous...but realistically it's kind of hard..."
