ECHO Awards: The
Echo Awards (german phono academy) is coming up. The
award show takes place on March 6 in Berlin's
International Congress Centre (ICC) and Enrique
Iglesias will perform there. I think that his
Australia tour starts after that event in Berlin and
since I heard that Anna MIGHT choose to travel with
him on tour I think that there is a 50/50 chance of
seeing her in Berlin at the Echo Awards! RTL (german
TV station) will be airing the show LIVE!

Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio and David Arquette.

babe and New York Yankee Derek Jeter (29) "were
making out and [were] all over each other" at the
Prive nightclub in Miami (the New York Daily News

Chapel in Las Vegas, coming directly from the Clark

Wahlberg stood in as best man and Anna as bridesmaid

Thanx to Oct_1 (moderator of official messageboard) I got this piece of info: Anna was at the Green Valley Sport Club indoors on February 21st. She signed autographs there and according to the Las Vegas Review Journal ANNA'S NEW COACH was there, too! In fact, Anna was in Las Vegas to celebrate Light Nightclub's 2nd anniversary at the Bellagio resort. She walked down the red carpet together with actor Mickey Rourke (they are friends?!?!?!) and she also saw Enrique who was playing at the Hard Rock hotel casino.

SI 40th anniversary celebration: Past and
present supermodels, including ANNA and Daniela
Pestova, celebrated the 40th anniversary issue at a
Manhattan Party tuesday night (February 17). A video

Anna and her hair: As you can see in the
pictures from Las Vegas event (February 21, link in
"Tennis news"-section) Anna has trimmed her hair a
little bit (hopefully not too much)! According to
the New York Post Anna was spotted at the
Bumble & Bumble salon on East 56th Street in New
York. I assume that it was at the end of last week!

reported that Anna and MARK WAHLBERG (did they mix

Anna in Memphis yesterday / Ranking News / SI Swimsuit video from Spike TV
Anna made a trip to Memphis' Racquet Club yesterday where she once again presented a $25,000 check to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Later on monday, tournament officials set up an autograph session with Anna in the food court where Anna signed items for about 20 minutes for many many fans!
Ranking News: As
of February 16, Anna is ranked 575th in Singles!
Well, until the Miami-week at the end of march
(Nasdaq-100 Open) there won't be any big changes
because she hasn't played in this period last year
due to injury.

Anna vs Gullickson in Houston / SI video on Eurosport
Anna will play at the River Oaks International on April 15! Anna's most likely opponent is Carly Gullickson (remember Portland 2003)! THIS article also mentions that Anna's agent told River Oaks tournament director Van Barry that retirement will not happen anytime soon :-)))! Plus: Because of her back injury Anna doesn't plan to play any WTA event before the clay court season (no big surprise)!

WOW - Anna was featured in the last 10 minutes of this show and it is true that Sports Illustrated tried to get her a couple of times before. Well, now that she doesn't play tennis she had time to do that! You can also see her tattoo on her lower back - which was deleted (airbrush) in the magazine! See Vidcaps

Anna starts training in march / SI Swimsuit Mag - german TV coverage / SI Swimsuit 2004 - more / Video of St.Moritz-Omega
Well, this might turn out as bad news in the end! Anna spoke with ABC News' Diane Sawyer about the 2004 SI Swimsuit photoshooting yesterday. Quotes: "When I was talking about coming back I said March would probably be the time when I would be starting to train and see how it's doing"!
That sounds good as well as bad because we all know HOW injury-prone Anna is! Did she have surgery right now??? I do not think so but well, we do not know 100% for sure! Hopefully she can practise continously and won't have any major setbacks! More Quotes from the SI Swimsuit Magazine-Interview
SI Swimsuit Mag - german TV coverage:
I've seen the showbiz magazines on german TV today
and well, some of them showed small reports. My
summary:PRO 7 "taff" > The report mostly showed the other models but it also contained a small Anna-Interview from the launch event in New York yesterday. Anna basically said that she enjoyed the shooting and how amazing it is to be together with all the famous models (no surprising statements)! But: It was stated that Anna is currently ranked No 70 in the world... well, I guess someone who searched infos for this report was just looking at kournikova.com - the official but poorly updated website!
SAT1-"18:30" > Quite a surprise because I thought that the showbiz mag "Blitz" would show a report - I was wrong! Anyway, this report showed the same small Interview part with Anna and also gave a small view into the magazine pages with Anna's sexy pictures!
PRO 7 News & RTL 2 News > Both news mags showed reports at almost the same time! Well, RTL 2 News' report didn't even mention Anna (no picture shown as well) while PRO 7 News came up with an 100% duplicate of the SAT 1 "18:30"-report!

Anna to appear in Memphis on February 16 / AKFS meets the past
Just like last year, Anna will be coming to Memphis again. She won't play at the Kroger St. Jude and Cellular South Cup in the Racquet Club but according to tournament owner Mac Winker, Anna will present a check again for the Children Hospital (last year $30.000)! Additionally Anna is scheduled to sign autographs!

Rare Anna picture / soon not ranked anymore
It's a picture from an exhibition in Vienna (Austria) where Anna played in mid September 2000, straight after the US Open! Back at that time, I just found out how she performed there but I never saw a picture. Here is one

Anna is already not ranked in Doubles anymore! When
will her name disappear in the Singles Rankings??? I
had a look in the
2004 WTA Tour Official Rulebook!
To shorten it up - take a look at point XV. B 3 (WTA
Rankings - General Rules - Eligibility):
Quote: "Players must have at least three (3) valid
Tournaments to appear on the rankings." The ranking
system is a 52-week, cumulative system this means
for Anna:
Anna's third last tournament she played was at Charleston last year (April 7-13, 2003). This means that after this tournament this year (April 12-18, 2004) ANNA WON'T HAVE A SINGLES RANKING ANYMORE because by then she just has 2 tournaments played within the last 52 weeks!
ANNA WITHOUT A SINGLES AND DOUBLES RANKING - have you ever imagined that this could really happen???

Anna ranked 576th!!! / Anna-report at VOX
This is scary! I know that Anna had a better Singles Ranking when she turned Pro in October 1995!!! As of February 2nd, Anna's Singles Ranking dropped more dramatic than ever before - she lost 265 Ranking positions! DOWN FROM 311th to 576TH!!!!! WHY??? Well, Anna simply lost the Aussie Open-points from last year (she reached the 2nd Round in Singles), that's it!
By the way: In April, Anna won't have any Singles Ranking anymore - she played her last WTA match in Charleston on April 9th, 2003!!! Can you imagine TENNIS player Anna not having a Ranking neither in Singles nor in Doubles??????? Absolutely scary!

Anna-report at VOX: On german's VOX TV ("Sueddeutsche
TV") they showed a report called "Sex sells"
yesterday evening. The report dealed about the
combination of sports, endorsements and marketing in
general! Of course, they also talked about Anna

ANNA RETURNS TO PRO TENNIS IN SUMMER / Anna & Enrique site

PERSONAL COMMENT: Finally
news about her comeback plans! I think she neither
plans to return in Miami (Nasdaq 100 Open) in march
nor in the clay court season with Roland Garros as
the Highlight! My prediction: She plans to comeback
in the US Hardcourt season (Stanford, San Diego) at
the end of July to possibly be able to compete at
the US Open!
Hopefully she proves me wrong and she will return
earlier.
