new quotes from Feb 26-exhibition / Anna at concert / Win your @annaforever.de-email
I found some new quotes from Anna she gave at the Key Biscayne photo opportunity in this report! Questions (made up by me) and answers by Anna:
Q: What's the tape for on your back?
A: "It's my back problem, just a heat patch I wear for that"!

Hopefully her back didn't cause any problems throughout this exhibition match!
Q: What does the inscription on this Army dog tag mean?
A: "It's nothing. Just jewelry."

Well, the most likely meaning is that the December 21, 2001 was the first day Anna shot the "Escape"-video with Enrique...
Q: Will Enrique be there at the Nasdaq 100 Open?
A: "I don't know. Perhaps you should ask him."

Typical answer from Anna and I don't want to say that I don't like that or whatever. That's absolutely the best she can say to these always-repeating questions about her private life. Unfortunately this will never stop :-(

Anna at concert: Anna attended a concert with someone during the last few days (I guess close to or straight at Miami). Who gave that concert? Philip Kirkorov & "Smash!".

Win your @annaforever.de-email: Once again I give away 3 what-every-you-want@annaforever.de - email-addresses! What you have to do??
Write your story how you met Anna or how you think this would be!
It doesn't has to be very long, just go into details and share your experience you had :-)

new Ranking scare...
Just take a look at the current Rankings and you simply can't be happy - once again Anna lost 1 position in Singles as well as in Doubles - 58th in Singles (614 points) and 22th in Doubles (1168 points)! Sad as well: This week is Acapulco where Anna reached the semis last year...so you can imagine how Anna's Singles Ranking will look like next week :-(((
In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna fell out of the Top 100!!!!!!! NO JOKE - Anna currently has 48 points but the players on the lowest spots have at least 58 points already in 2003...! This is so sad, so sad :-( Well, at least in Doubles she just lost 1 spot - 20th ranked with unchanged 151 points, teamed up with Chanda Rubin!

ANNA BACK AT KEY BISCAYNE :-)) / Anna in A.Island / new Poll / Messageboard back online / new Links / Sorry guys
Thanx a lot Anna - in her latest Journal entry from February 21 Anna describes how interesting and funny her trip to Memphis was (Quote: "I'm very grateful to those who made this experience possible") and, most important to me and all who want to see her playing again, she wrote this - Quote: "I'll be back in action at Key Biscayne" :-))))
So Anna will be back on court in the Tier I tournament which starts on March 19, 2003!

PERSONAL COMMENT: Her back is getting better and it is kind of logical that she doesn't fly to Indian Wells, California! Reasons: More time to fully recover plus the advantage that the Nasdaq 100 Open take place in the town she lives in!

Anna in A.Island: Anna appears on the commitment list for the Tier II - event in Amelia Island (April 14-20, 2003).

So, Anna's planned schedule seems to be: Miami - Charleston - Amelia Island! Afterwards in the end of April/beginning of May she will come to Europe again - I HOPE SO!!!!

new Poll: Anna announced her comeback (thanx god) and therefore the old Poll had to be removed - fortunately :-))) The outcome you can see below! Take part in the latest poll - WHAT CAN WE EXPECT WHEN ANNA COMES BACK???
Last poll results:

Messageboard back online: Finally, I reinstalled the good old Messageboard - feel free to post your opinion, give me feedback, let me know about your complaints etc!

new Links: No spectacular news but some news! At the right side of this main page in the "WTA"-Box you have the direct links to special sections of the official WTA website, wtatour.com!

Sorry guys...: Well, I have to make a statement about bad news - starting from this week I have to do a 3-year training for my job and therefore I won't have as much time for annaforever.de as in the past.
The result will be that during the week I won't be able to inform you about the LATEST news immediately.
Don't worry, I will let you know but the actuality won't be as unique as it was used to be - not my fault, just the requirement for my new training.

Sorry guys but I have to earn my money as well - just like anybody else in this world...

Anna in Memphis / Ranking News
Anna was in Memphis last monday (February 17, 2003) to donate a cheque of $ 30000 to the Kroger St. Jude Children's Research Hospital after the 1st night session match :-) According to "minimoya88" (member of official messageboard), who was lucky to see her there in person, she was very nice, walked around with the tournament director and signed autographs although the tournament director said that there is no time for that. Anna reportedly said: "just a few for the kids"! LOVELY ANNA :-)
His story: official Messageboard > The Tennis > "I saw Anna in Memphis"-Thread
Earlier on that monday Anna toured St. Jude and Target House with Mac Winker, owner and CEO of The Racquet Club. Quotes: "I'm so sorry I couldn't play here!...It is amazing how great that place is!...This has been a very educational trip for me!" Articles

Ranking News: Sorry to inform you so late about the Rankings (since February 17, 2003) but I promise to be more actual in the future!
Logically, Anna fell down in Singles once again (lost last year's points from Antwerp's 2nd Round) - she is currently ranked 57th in the world (642 points)! In Doubles Anna lost 1 position once again and is ranked 21st with unchanged 1168 points!
In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna is about to fall out of the Top 100 :-(((( She is ranked 96th in Singles right now (-5 positions once again) with 49 points and 19th in Doubles (-1 position) with 151 points.

Anna in Memphis!?!? / 5 years ago...
Well, as stated below in "Sorry guys..." (other / Site News) I haven't had the chance to inform myself yet if Anna already was in Memphis this week or not. In the official messageboard you will find out more for sure

5 years ago...: TODAY exactly 5 years ago Anna played vs Anke Huber in the Faber Tennis Grand Prix in Hannover (Germany)! Anna was the youngster, the rising star and this match was one of my all-time favorite matches: Anna was fighting, she played smart and finally she won that match (she lost vs Huber the week before in Paris Indoors)!
Okay, I admit that I was also fascinated by the way she looked but who wasn't?!?!?
All I want to say is that I miss these days where Anna was everybody's darling, the rising star, the potential future No.1 - and not the "loser" the media sells her since 1,2 years :-((((

"Failing to impress" / Anna & Enrique - everything over???
An article has been published today by dailyrecord.co.uk, stating that Anna's lack of success is attracting the men as much as her stunning looks...! Article

Anna & Enrique - everything over???: Once again, german BILD newspaper, put together recently published rumours, added previous rumours from the EMA-tete-a-tete from Enrique Iglesias. BUT: Danii Minogue is quoted from Switzerland's "Blick" with: "Now, as it is finally over with Anna Kournikova, I could go out dancing with him."...read more

PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, who knows?? I don't really care anymore. I just wish that Anna is healthy and able to play good tennis again soon!

ANNA STILL INJURED :-( / Anna in Memphis / Charleston-Yes / GUESTBOOK back online
Thanx Anna - she finally gave us an update on the status of her injury...but unfortunately no good news :-((( Full Journal-entry!
Quote: "My back sprain is improving but I won't be in tournament competition for about the next three weeks."
This is soooo sad :-((( Another 3 weeks without Anna playing any tournament which means that she probably even won't be able to play the prestigious Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells (March 3-16, 2002) :-(((
Quote: "While I rehab my back, I am still able to do fitness training and work on developing my game."
At least a bit good news and not one single comment that she might consider retirement due to neverending injury setbacks! THAT was my biggest fear over the last few weeks without any news on the status of her current injury! reports
But overall this is just sad! Once again, all I can ask is: GOD, IS THIS FAIR THAT ANNA OBVIOUSLY HAS TO HAVE INJURY AFTER INJURY???

Anna in Memphis: Anna won't be able to play in Memphis but nevertheless she WILL be there. Why? Anna will make an on-court tournament appearance to present a $30,000 check to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Anna had won a skills challenge at the 2002 US Open and designated St. Jude as her charity event.

Charleston-Yes: As published by the Associated Press, Anna will return to the Family Circle Cup this year as well. This event is played in Charleston from April 7-13, 2002 - official tournament website

GUESTBOOK back online: It took me quite some time but now you can leave your messages again in my guestbook :-)))

Memphis-news / Moscow02-ankle injury :-(
According to "anton" (senior member of wtaworld.com-boards) the tournament director already spoke to Anna's agent who said that she is practising and planning to play! wtaworld.com-Thread

This is FINALLY some good news - at least she is able to PRACTISE again :-)

Moscow02- ankle injury:-( : Remember Anna's ankle injury in Moscow 2002?? For sure...! I really would like to update the website with some positive news but I can't find any :-((( All I found is this picture of Anna getting treatment for her injured foot! Look into her eyes and you see how she feels I think :-(((

Ranking News
Sad news - Anna's Singles Ranking got worse once again - she's just ranked 54th right now with 676 points (last year 2nd Round at Open Gaz de France in Paris). In Doubles Anna remains 20th ranked with unchanged 1168 points (no Doubles in Paris Indoors last year)! In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings things loke worse than last week as well: In Singles Anna can just stay in the Top 100 - 91th ranked with 49 points (last week 82th)! In Doubles Anna also lost 1 position - 18th with Chanda Rubin (151 points)!

HINGIS RETIRES :-(( / Spice Girls-Hommage / No Antwerp or Doha
This is STILL the Anna Kournikova Forever Site but today sth happened what was a rumour in the last weeks - NOW Martina said it herself: "IT'S OVER FOR ME..."! After her 2nd surgery Martina obviously isn't able to return to competition which makes me very very sad :-((( BBC-article

Both were known in the media as the "Spice Girls of Tennis", both won the Australian Open Doubles crown twice (1999, 2002)! Anna and Martina was my all-time Dreamteam and now both will NEVER play again :-(((((
I saw Martina LIVE, I saw Anna LIVE. I know that Martina is a VERY nice person and she and Anna are friends - therefore I really liked Martina very much!
Now everything is over...

Spice Girls-Hommage: After last year's Australian Open-triumph I created this special Flash-movie called "Aussie99vs02"...
See caps below and click them to start Download... (~ 1,7 MB)

PS: I will also create a Anna&Martina-video...

No Antwerp or Doha: As expected - Anna doesn't start her comeback next week in Antwerp (main draw) or Doha (Qatar)!
This frustrates me once more (beside Martina's retirement...) because I had time for a trip to Antwerp next week...with Anna not being there this makes no sence :-(

Memphis-infos
The Kroger St.Jude Tennis Championships in Memphis (February 14-23, 2003) seems to be THE tournament where Anna will play again after missing Tokyo, Paris (this week) and Antwerp/Qatar next week (I don't think she will play a tournament)!

Lots of infos about the LOCATION you find at the Racquet Club of Memphis -website, the place where the tournament will take place!

WTA Championships changes / new poll
WTA copies ATP??? It seems so a little bit - The WTA Tour Championships in Los Angeles' Staples Center (November 5-10, 2003) will be playing in ROUND ROBIN-Format in Singles (Top8-players of the year instead of Top16) and just the Top4 Doubles Teams will play at the Championships in the future (Top8 Doubles Teams previously). Read more

MY OPINION: Anna will have close to zero chances to get into this Top8-players group anymore (currently ranked 82...) and also in Doubles I don't see many chances for her to qualifiy for the season-ending Championships :-(((( Most likely NO Anna after she already couldn't qualify for the 2001 and 2002 Championships...
Other than that the ONE AND ONLY advantage I see is that fans get to see at least 3 matches of each player because of the Round Robin-system!

new poll: I would LOVE to post a happier poll but keeping in mind what's currently going on with Anna I simply think I have to ask you: "Injuries all over :-((( Should or WILL Anna retire soon???" :-((( Please honest answers

The outcome of the last poll:

Well, I was HOPING that Anna would be able to stay healthy throughout 2003 but as we all know now that didn't happen :-((((((((

February 4, 2003
No Paris-comeback / Memphis news / Ranking news
Well, I didn't expect anything else unfortunately - Anna doesn't play Paris Indoors (Open Gaz de France) this week :-(((( Anna will lose MORE points for her Ranking and just the imagination that we won't get to see lovely pictures from Nicolas Meunier again like in recent years...frustrating :-((((

Nicolas Meunier last year's pictures: 5.2.2002 | 6.2.2002

Memphis news: Well, it seems that Anna will come back in Memphis, starting today in 2 weeks! article

Ranking news: Well, THIS is step 1 of another Downfall of Anna :-((( Last year semis in Tokyo, this year not played due to injury :-((( After climbing up the Rankings after the Aussie Open Anna lost now 14 positions and is just ranked 50th with 704 points! In Doubles Anna lost 1 position as well - 20th with unchanged 1168 points!
In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna fell down in Singles again - 82th with unchanged 49 points! In Doubles Anna is ranked 17th with Chanda Rubin (unchanged 151 points)!

Anna's comeback WHEN? / Minnesota-pictures
WHEN WILL ANNA COME BACK?? and HOW SERIOUS IS HER INJURY?
These are the questions I am thinking about the most right now. Just take a quick look at the upcoming WTA tournaments (sources: official websites):

Minnesota-pictures: Take a look at 3 GREAT pictures of Anna from the Minnesota-exhibition (Dec 14, 2002) last year!
Thanx for finding & posting them "opert"
