2003 season just around the corner / Anna's catsuit version / new poll
The 2003 season starts in just 4 days - well, unfortunately Anna decided NOT to play the first week like she did since years (2002 Auckland, 2001 Hongkong, 2000 Gold Coast, 1999 Hongkong,...)! But okay - it's Anna's decision and she has to know what's best for her.
Maybe she still needs recovery and considers that normal practise would be better for her than tournament pressure during next week - Winnipeg-quote from December 15, 2002: "I'm...just working hard, going to the gym, doing all the things to take care of my body."
So, the Adidas International in Sydney are going to be Anna's 1st tournament 2003 - official website

Don't get me wrong - wtaworld.com is a GREAT messageboard but the "Anna Kournikova announces engagement"-Thread in the "General Messages" is simply ridiculous and it was a SHOCK for me as I first read the headline...
Guys, Anna to marry Nick Hayek (Omega CEO), is simply nothing worth to comment anymore. It's sad that some guys obviously are sitting at home and putting together ridiculous quotes just to spread fucked up rumors.

about Anna in a negative way again and again - and
now this:
BILD Online states that Anna finally recognized
after months full of parties (especially the bad
restaurant-pics recently) that she starts losing her
fans and needs to refocus on her tennis. Her victory
against Seles (in Winnipeg) was a key moment
according to BILD and they say that Anna's biggest
wish (to play injury-free throughout a full season)
is kind of a pre-christmas-gift for her fans!

Well, today is Christmas Eve and such news do appear - very sad :-( Just a little reminder where Anna was during that time (this concert in Berlin must have been around April/May 02)! Anna was in April for the Omega-show in the end of April, afterwards she directly flew to Bol (Croatia), Warsaw (Poland), Rome (Italy), Strasbourg (France) and Paris (French Open). I know that after she lost in the 1st Round at Paris she still stayed there for a couple of days and I heard that she visited a concert of Enrique in Paris - but not in Berlin!

RTL-Exclusiv with MakingOf Calendar 2003 / RTL-punkt12 with MakingOf Calendar 2003
Once again - RTL's "Exclusiv"-magazine showed MakingOf-scenes from Anna's 2003 calendar shooting but this time they also showed parts of an Interview with the photographer, Bill Ling. He said that Anna is really nice and not complaining about anything! RTL showed how it was raining in mexico and what did Anna say, standing inside a barn?: "beautiful mexican weather" :-) In the end they showed pictures from the Fashion show in Dublin recently and a spokeswoman from Escada (Anna wore an Escada outfit) said that THE "breathtaking moment" was Anna's appearance...! PERSONAL COMMENT: Well,
I didn't expect TV reports like the 2 ones today
because this Calendar-shooting took place over half
a year ago! Overall I got the impression that RTL
wanted to portray Anna more as a model than an
professional tennis player which isn't a real
surprise anymore :-( Anyway - it would be a dream to
be at such a photoshooting personally. Perhaps in
March 2003 for the 2004 Calendar shooting ;-)

Calendar 2003-shooting and I've seen scenes I
haven't seen before: Anna dancing with the director
and the mexican band behind her, Anna showing her
tongue (as a joke) and her mother around her, Anna
with a mobile phone calling someone and
MakingOf-scenes...!

A Fan was lucky enough to meet her in person - there was a private "Meet & Greet" and he managed to get access to this area. was upset because she wasn't on a security list and
therefore didn't get to meet Prince Charles at the
Royal Variety Performance in London a few days ago!
Well, the only way this COULD be true somehow would be that this report refers to the Royal Variety Performance back in the beginning of December 2002 where Anna was in London together with Enrique for a few days. He is also mentioned in this article!

Sorry for providing you with the wrong score - Anna beat Seles but the score was 6-4,7-6 and not vice versa! More Infos:
Anna and Monica arrived in Winnipeg on early sunday morning and left at late night - both also played a Doubles match after their Singles match: Anna/Vanessa Webb lost vs Seles/Jeyaseelan 4-6!
Important Anna-quote in my opinion: "I'm hoping I'll stay healthy...That's my main goal - to try to play a full season without getting injured...I'm playing really well right now, just working hard, going to the gym, doing all the things to take care of my body." HEALTH is Anna's main concern!

2003-start: Well, as far as I know it is
still uncertain if Anna plans to play a tournament
in the first week of the new season (December 30,
2002 to January 5, 2003) - Auckland (Tier IV, played
there in 2002) or Gold Coast (Tier III, played there
in 2000) would be possible! BUT: She'll definitely
starts the 2003 season on January 6 in Sydney at the
Adidas International Champhionships (Adidas is one
of her main sponsors)!

Another very long article has been published called "Model or tennis player? You glow girl" by twincities.com! Overall it deals about the fact that Anna is much more known for her offcourt worldwide celebrity "icon"-status as for her oncourt achievements (how many times do we have to read this again???)! But this reports also mentions one VERY interesting and encouraging quote from Anna which she obviously gave in an Sports Illustrated-report in October 2002: "I know some people may have written me off, but what matters is that I haven't written myself off"! GO ANNA!

This saturday (December 14) Anna will be playing in Minnesota, her next exhibition match vs Monica Seles.
All I found so far was this: HDNet TV, owned by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, will broadcast the Kournikova-Seles tennis exhibition with Matt and Luke Jensen as commentators (Anna knows them from past exhibition events).

RTL once again - "Anna's real talents":
German TV channel RTL once again showed a totally
negative report about Anna where pictures of Anna's
catwalk-appearance in Dublin were shown! Furthermore
a "society expert" said that she's probably the only
worldwide sports star who doesn't has to win! Of
course the relationship with Enrique was a topic,
this "expert" meant that the relationship won't take
long anymore and Enrique is a "weakling" (german:
"Waschlappen")! They also mentioned Anna's burst of
rage at the VMA's!
PERSONAL COMMENT: I really
thought that after the recent absolutely negative TV
report about the "butt-show"-picture from London the
german TV magazines wouldn't show anything of Anna
anymore this year but hey, I was wrong :-(((( ANNA
ISN'T CHUBBY and to re-show the Omega-Paris02-pics
again and again is just RIDICULOUS. Anna's
reputation really gets ruined by this kind of
reports but to be honest: It doesn't surprise me
anymore :-(

Anna gets Direct Entry for Sydney and Tokyo / WTA season 2003 / outfit 2003 / NEW GUESTBOOK / Anna's Internet popularity / ESPN-show coming up
This surprises me a little bit: Anna has DIRECT ENTRY to Sydney, the Adidas International, and Tokyo, the Pan Pacific Open!
In Sydney there's a field of 28 with 21 direct entries (Anna is player 21!!!), 3 Wild Cards and 4 Qualifiers! In Tokyo Anna appears on position 6 of the Commitment list and obviously Anna is ranked 11th on the "Silver/Gold Exempt List 2003" (this year she was ranked 9th on that list)! More Infos to come!

Sydney (she still hasn't confirmed to play any

opinion it looks quite nice and I read that Anna had
a big influence on the design in general!
Interesting: Adidas seemed to have copied Serena's leather catsuit (right picture) a little bit - will Anna ever wear this??? I highly doubt that!

Thanx very much "Mac" and "Robin" for the infos - there's a Winnipeg-report which mentions ANNA but I doubt Robin that she's already in Winnipeg - Anna first has to play an exhibition in St.Paul, Minnesota vs Monica Seles on December 14th before she goes to Winnipeg (Canada) on December 15th!
According to "Mac" there was a sports show on british SKY SPORTS where was stated that Anna was the only player who already left Dublin and flew towards Miami again!
Well, hopefully she's back in Miami and practises again with Harold Solomon!

1st point for Team Europe in Dublin / where is Anna?
Well, I was in fear that this might happen - it seems that Team EUROPE (Dokic, Anna, Hantuchova, Schett, Bovina,...) has almost NO chance to be an equal strong opponent for Team USA (Williams, Seles,...)! Elena Bovina did upset Venus Williams which was quite a surprise - the FIRST WIN FOR TEAM EUROPE!!!!
Next up for Anna: First-ever "Tennis-challenge" against Monica Seles at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on Saturday, December 14th.
where is Anna?: Has anybody infos about where
Anna is right now?? Did she already left Dublin
straight after her loss vs Seles on thursday?? Did
she fly back to Miami to practise with Harold

Anna lost 6:7,4:6 to Seles / SAT1-Blitz about BILD's point of view / BILD - "Anna, how much have you changed?"
Unfortunately Anna couldn't manage to beat Monica but according to what "Martin" (official Messageboard-member) said who saw this match LIVE (lucky guy) it was a good game! Anna lost her serve 3 times in the match but her weakness was playing good at the BIG points. In the 1st set tiebreak Anna could have reached a comfortable 4-1 lead but missed an easy volley and in the end she lost the tiebreak 4-7! In the 2nd set Anna managed to break back to 4-4 but her serve was immediately broken again to love! A question remains for me: ANNA, WHY DON'T YOU PLAY DOUBLES IN DUBLIN????? In fact, this was Anna's one and only match in Dublin - maybe she already left?? Who knows!
SAT1-Blitz about BILD's point of view: It's hard to
talk about what I've just seen - Sat1's "Blitz"-magazine
(german TV channel) showed a report about Anna's
DOWNFALL, referring to BILD newspaper's huge article
today! Nova Meierhenrich (german TV starlet) said
that she didn't achieved anything oncourt so far and
that it's almost unbelievable that she earns so much
- just by endorsements! Furthermore Alain Midzic (manager
of Verona Feldbusch) talked a little bit more
politically correct but the bottomline was that
pictures like that (after a party-night) can happen
once but it must not become the normality because
the credibility of Anna would fade away! Pictures of
Anna presenting Omega-watches (Berlin 2001) were
shown and really really terrible comments were made.
It seems to me as if the media DEFINITELY wants to
write Anna off! I cannot image that Anna really
wants to turn into a nonstop-partygirl - I HATE THE
PAPARAZZIS because the naked butt certainly was
shown to these guys who were waiting outside of this
London restaurant!

It was only a matter of time and TODAY BILD comes up
with a huge 1-page-article about the "incident" in
London's NOBU-restaurant (pal of Enrique showed his
naked BUTT to pedestrians) - the whole article
describes in a very frustrating way how Anna changed
off court - she wears black leather outfits, has
deep eye rings because of long party nights like
this one, her hair is shaggy and of course they once
again mention Anna's 0 Singles titles...!

PERSONAL COMMENT:
Yes I have to admit that I was also SHOCKED about
these pictures but after all it's up to Anna what
she's doing in the evenings. Nevertheless, this
ass-showing picture where she's laughing isn't good
for her image in the public! In the
Face-CloseUp-picture from the Fashion show in Dublin
(2 days after this restaurant-"incident" in London)
she really looks a bit "tired" and it seems that the
last nights were a bit too long perhaps! She lost
her last 2 exhibition matches (although this
shouldn't be any indicator that she doesn't care
about if she loses or wins - she just comes back
from another serious ankle injury) and yes, she
hasn't won a Singles title on the WTA Tour yet B U
T: I know that she's really working hard and that
she's fully committed to Tennis and as long as I am
sure of that everything is more or less alright!
Bottom line: I am not happy about these pictures
from Nobu-restaurant but Anna is also just a human
being plus she's a young woman who can do whatever
she likes!

Tokyo-Yes: It seems quite sure right now that
Anna will be playing at the Pan Pacific Open in
Tokyo, the week following the Australian Open in the
end of January 2003!

NEW REGENCY is WTA's new title sponsor: Well,
business news - Sanex won't renew its title
sponsorship with the WTA which expires at the end of
2002! NEW REGENCY ENTERPRISES extends the deal with
the WTA through 2007 season. They will pay $40 Mio.
for annual international television rights for WTA's
top 28 tournaments.

"Escape"-news by
director: In an
report published at AOL Dave meyers (director of
"Escape"-video) said that Enrique wanted Anna to be
in his video, "he liked Anna...so I wrote a scene
that made them kiss even though she had a no-kissing
clause in her contract."
Well, THIS is interesting and something I "expected"
BEFORE I saw the video and its making of! A
no-kissing clause
before but in the process of the videoshoot and
afterwards this relationship developed very fast.
Taking this no-kissing clause into count you can get
the impression that Enrique somehow "planned" this
relationship with Anna and, as it looks since months,
it turned out PERFECTLY for him...!
Just something I wish: Don't hurt Anna's feelings

Anna's not angry about cheating: The mirror
came up with a few more "news" - Anna obviously
wanted to see Enrique as soon as possible so she
left Zaragoza already on sunday evening in a private
jet to arrive in London just 4 hours after he did!

Anna in Dublin / Anna & Enrique were in London...
After 2 days in London (see more details about restaurant-visit below) Anna flew to Dublin (Ireland) this morning and will be promoting her 2003 calendar today! This evening at 7:00 pm local the FASHION show starts - Anna will be on the catwalk with numerous supermodels and other tennis players (Hantuchova, Schett, Dokic, Majoli,...)! Collins Cup

Enrique were in London...: In fact,
it was just a "normal" dinner with Enrique in a
japanese restaurant (NOBU in park lane) but both
weren't alone. A pal was there as well and what did
he do??? - Suddenly he showed his naked butt to
passing pedestrians - ANNA LOUGHED!!! Anna and
Enrique reportedly left the restaurant 2 hours later
and drove to the posh Lanesborough Hotel at Hyde
Park Center! Enrique was in London for the Royal
Variety Performance! What was Anna wearing? A really
sexy leather outfit!
whole THE SUN-report with PicturesPERSONAL COMMENT: It wasn't Anna's fault (at least that's what I think) that this guy showed his naked butt to the public at a window but somehow this one pictures reminds me on numerous mediocre Katie Price-stories! Ok, perhaps a little bit exaggerated but this was my first impression! Anyway: Anna and Enrique ARE together, all this crap about Enrique&Emma after the EMA's were just gossip-bullshit and that's it! Anna seems to be really happy with her relationship - the same way like Enrique said in the recent VIVA Bams-Interview (see News from December 2, 2002)! As Anna was in London on monday and tuesday it was more or less for certain that such a report with pictures would come up!

Hey german BILD, you are damn quick in Anna-News ;-))) TODAY BILD Online reported that music band Binge will release a track called "Anna Kournikova" - this is very old news from end of August 2002!!!!
The only news: The track will be released throughout Europe on December 13 and reportedly the Video is on top of the charts in the United States (the video includes MakingOf-Calendar02-scenes from Anna where she is at the beach at Acapulco)

experiences at this exhibition at the

for informing us! Anna did a light hitting on sunday
with some kids and later on she walked to a
pressconference together with Conchita Martinez (both
under an umbrella, looks very sweet). The match vs
Martinez started at 6:00 pm local!
Ranking News: Honestly I don't have a clue
why the rankings are still changing but anyway -
Anna remains 35th ranked (lost 6 ranking points) in
Singles but fell down 2 spots in Doubles - 11th with
unchanged 1992 points!

Anna LOST in Zaragoza :-( / next... / Anna gets 2 wtaworld.com-awards / BAMS-interview-transcript
Sad news unfortunately - Anna LOST in Zaragoza...3:6,5:7 the score, even though Anna was already leading 5:2 in the 2nd set :-(((! In the first set Anna fell behind 0:4, broke Conchita's serve twice but Anna's serve was broken three times. Frustrating! Hopefully her left foot is fully healed again and she can win a few of her upcoming exhibition matches! A few more infos: Anna arrived in Zaragoza on saturday and practised later in the Indoor complex!

next: I assume that Anna will stay in
Zaragoza or Spain in general today and maybe
tomorrow (I don't know yet if Enrique was at

(Collins Cup) starts on December 4 with the Fashion
show in the evening!
Anna gets 2 wtaworld.com-awards: Well, Anna
has won 2 "Awards" from the
wtaworld.com-Messageboard: On the one hand the sad
one, "Biggest flop of the year" (21 of
49 votes - 49%), and on the other hand the at least
better one, "Best player outfit on the court"
(9 o 48 votes - 19%)!
Unfortunately these awards
kind of show the way Anna is STILL recognised in the
public :-((((( There is still the "barbie
doll"-image in the heads of the people and hardly
anyone sees the hard working athlete in her :-(((
BAMS-interview-transcript: As I mentioned yesterday
Enrique was interviewed by VIVA Bams and here is the
transcript (rough translation) of the "important"
part about Anna:
Q: Now you should be together with tennisstar Anna
Kournikova. How would you describe your relationship?
E: just platonic (laughs)! No, you wouldn't see me
on millions of pictures at millions of locations
together with Anna if I wouldn't trust her. Trusting
is the most important thing in a relationship and we
have a great relationship: I am very happy!
Q: What do you like about Anna?
E: I am having fun with her, I can laugh with her.
She is loaded with energy and is doing everything.
She is so exciting - I could go waterskiing at 3 a.m.
with her. She's cool, she's not arrogant, she's
independent - it's not good if a woman is
financially dependent on a man!
Q: What's different with Anna compared to other
girls?
E: I've met so many girls before her who might have
been beautiful but behaved to much girlie-like, too
nervous, too much prudent on their look. I cannot
take this nanny goat affected behaviour.
Q: How often do you see each other?
E: I see her often although I am travelling a lot.
We are neighbors in Miami, we live very close to
each other.

Zaragoza TODAY... / ENRIQUE CONFIRMED RELATIONSHIP
UNFORTUNATELY I don't know the schedule for today's ZARAGOZA-exhibition! I just know that Anna will be playing vs Conchita Martinez today in the Prince Felipe pavilion! CONFIRMED RELATIONSHIP:span id=newsbad> It seems that finally Enrique confirmed that he and
Anna are together and have a serious relationship!!
In today's BILD newspaper's ("Bild am Sonntag")
special inlay called "VIVA BamS" there is an
Interview with Enrique which was done by Ilka
Peemöller (VIVA Bams-journalist) in London a few
days ago.

the main statements already now:
"We have a wonderful
relationship! I am very happy"! He said
that Anna is exciting and she's a funny person!
Furthermore he loves that she's spontaneous ("I
could go waterskiing with her at 3 a.m.")
and that he met thousands of girls before in his
life but although they were beautiful they were more
concerned about their beauty than anything else!
Enrique also stated that he meets Anna quite often
despite he's travelling a lot! Plus: TRUSTING is
very important for Enrique within a relationship and
he trusts Anna!

PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, BILD is not the most reliable source of information BUT why should they publish wrong quotes?!?!? I think it's quite sure that this interview really did take place and having all these pictures and reports in mind (sushibar, boat-trip, VMA of course, NFL Kickoff Weekend,...) I think that NOW both consider the time to be there to confirm their relationship. Perhaps Anna will give an official statement, too! Who knows...
