Anna not at the AAKD / new WTT-pics / new pics / ELLE 9/06 (RUS)-scans / "10 years"-gift - the DVD
Anna didn't attend this year's AAKD! Reasons are unknown so far!

Personally I thought that she'd attend the AAKD and would stay in New York to visit the US Open (last time that Agassi and Navratilova are playing and Anna knows both of them quite good). I also thought that she'd attend the MTV VMA's (August 31st) - an event which also will take place in New York again.
But obviously Anna's plans are different. I hope we'll know quite soon what she's doing these days.

Anna not at the AAKD?
Reports stated that Anna would join the AAKD this year but she doesn't appear in any Press Agency Pictures so far which is a clear indicator that she didn't attend this event!!! Why???
Did the organizers just publish her name to get a higher attendance or did she confirm to participate and withdrew short before the event???

Well, CBS shows the AAKD today from 12:30 - 2:00pm (ET). We'll know if she was there afterwards.

Anna joins the Arthur Ashe Kids Day (AAKD) at Flushing Meadows today! Here's the programme in detail! Anna will take part in the Stadium show which runs from 2:00-4:00pm local (8:00-10:00pm CET)!

Great! CBS shows the AAKD on Sunday, August 27th, 12:30 - 2:00pm (ET).

PERSONAL COMMENT: Once I again I can only say: "Please US-fans, record this. All European fans can't see it" :-(((

new RG04 pic: Anna didn't play at the French Open 2004 but she was there while the 2nd Grand Slam of the year was ongoing. She was at the Galeries Lafayette (May 29th) on behalf of LR-International and Airelle to promote the in-store launch of her fragrance products (Simplicity and Anna Kournikova Man). Anna plays @ AAKD / ELLE 9/06 (RUS)-cover
Anna joins this year's Arthur Ashe Kids Day (AAKD) once again :-) This US Open-startup-event takes place on Saturday, August 26th, 2006. Anna will probably play Mixed Doubles again and supports her designated charity, the Boys and Girls Clubs in Miami.

CBS Television will show this event tape-delayed in the "Sports Spectacular" weekend sports series the following day. Read more

The only thing she said at the Rio press conference back then was: "The possibility (comeback) is not completely out of the question"...

"On the fence" for ELLE / Nasdaq-100 Open 2006 - HQ's
Anna and fencing!!! She tried this sport for the September 2006 issue (page 444 in the "Beauty, Body and Health"-section of the mag)! Fencing master Arnold Mercado introduced her to this sport and Anna quickly got into it. Quotes: "One of the sexiest sports around", "hand-eye coordination is key", "there's something sexy about a woman who knows her way around a stiletto...sword".

PLUS: In 2 additional articles, she talks about her Miami-based trainer Jennifer Klein is focused on balancing her out because due to tennis, her "body's right side is a bit stronger than her left." >> "Equal Opportunity"-report!

Hingis about possible return / hospital news
Anna should think twice about considering a comeback - that's what Hingis told reporters after revealing that Kournikova offered to reprise her doubles partnership!!!
This is what Hingis said: "She used to have her mother and a great support team to help her and she doesn't have that now. You can't just play one week and come back. You have to be more professional about it."

Back to the Rio-exhibition (December 10, 2005) where Anna and Martina played against each other - Hingis about Anna back then: "She was okay. But she would have to train. I don't want to go out there and lose first round. It would be great to see her out there."

Most remarkable sentence Hingis said about Anna: "She has a face people recognize." SO TRUE, Martina...

PERSONAL COMMENT: I would LOVE to see Anna coming back - even if this would be "just" in Doubles. But I doubt that she really would just return to Doubles competition - just take a look at her recent comments/statements...!
Beside all that - there would be a lot of things to do for Anna (back injury?, surgery?, coach?,...). I won't get excited anymore before I hear anything from Anna.

hospital news: Well, obviously Anna was in hospital to submit a blood sample because she reportedly has a wound in her right arm!!!

PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, personally I don't see any wound in her right arm or a bandage. Hopefully Anna will say something about this in her next Journal entry but I doubt that she will.

I found the this picture on BILD.de and according to Splash News, Anna came out of an hospital in Miami...!
Why was she there?? Eating disorder?? back problem?? Just visiting someone??? Do YOU know more???

PERSONAL COMMENT: I hope that she was there either just to visit someone or because of her chronic back problems. Maybe she's now ready for the surgery-option? Or IDD therapy???
