ESPN Sportscenter Interview: Anna wants Comeback / AK&EI not at VMA / Anna denied wedding plans
Anna was interviewed by Sunday Night's ESPN Sportscenter. They were running a US Open Preview and asked Anna a lot of questions (of course also about the hype around Maria Sharapova)! Anna responded that she never thought of retirement due to injuries (no news) and also said this: "I want to get healthy and rejoin the (WTA) Tour, and I am practising five days a week."

PERSONAL COMMENT: Especially this part of the sentence, combined with the recent pictures of her in the training dress (kissing and hugging Enrique in Miami on August 25th) give me a little bit hope right now - hope that she MIGHT really come back to the Pro Tour one day...

AK&EI not at VMA: Well, a surprise for me but nice to see: Anna and Enrique obviously decided not to attend the MTV VMA's which took place on August 29th in Miami!

Anna denied wedding plans: According to Star Magazine, Anna recently denied that she and Enrique are planning to get married in the near future. But she reportedly also said that both may decide to get married some time in the future. Website

Anna didn't show up at Arthur Ashe Kids Day / new AK&EI pics
Even last year Anna attended the Arthur Ashe Kids Day, the lead-up event for the US Open! This event took place on August 28th but as you can see and read at the Official US Open Website Anna wasn't there.

PERSONAL COMMENT: I wish she would have attended that event, just like she did the last years! Instead I think it is very likely that she and Enrique will go to the VMA's tonight (air time in Germany: MTV Europe, 30.08., 2:00-5:00 am CET)! Both did attend the show back in 2002 and Anna said that she also wanted to go to the show last year but her TV reporter part-time job was the reason why she couldn't go!

PC Problems
Sorry guys, I am currently facing some software/hardware problems and I don't know if I can keep up with my original plan which was to start the AKFS with the NEW MAJOR COLOR (red) at September 3rd, 2004. Why that date?
Well, it was on September 3rd, 1996 when I first saw Anna - on german TV playing at the US Open 1996.
PS: I will give my best of course and try to solve the problem.

new Poll / Extra Poll result
What do u mean? The last time Anna talked about her comeback plans and injury status was at the World Team Tennis Events back in the beginning of July! The last time Anna wrote a "Journal Entry" at kournikova.com is almost 1 year ago (that absolutely sucks)! In my opinion, Anna should inform US, her fans, about a) her comeback plans, b) her injury status and c) the likelihood for her to come back at all!

No surprise and well, as more and more days, weeks, months goes by, I also start to doubt that she really wants to come back again

Extra Poll result: Interesting outcome - in the first couple of days it looked like as if most of the fans would be convinced that Anna will be back on the tennis courts soon! But after 1,2 weeks it absolutely changed - now most people were convinced that "She doesn't care about Tennis anymore"! Well, here's the outcome of the poll:

In my opinion, Anna still doesn't know about her tennis future but one thing she could do - INFORM US about the chances for her to come back one day

AK & EI at Nobu's & marriage comment?
According to an US Weekly article, Anna and Enrique were at Nobu's at Miami Beach's Shore Club on August 7th! Both were having a midnight snack, obviously ate the same and reportedly acted "like a married couple" right now!

Plus: When Anna surprised the Gillette competition winner on August 10th, she obviously was asked when the marriage will take place and Anna replied: "Oh, I don't know" with a smile!

PERSONAL COMMENT: Offcourt stuff and nothing else. I am getting tired of this!

The Miami Herald reports that according to a friend of Anna and Enrique, bot are not engaged! Plus: Anna reportedly wants to tie the knot but Enrique isn't ready!!!! Miami Herald

Olympic Tennis Tournament: Anna doesn't play in the Olympic Tennis Tournament which starts on August 15th in Athens (Greece)! But probably she even wouldn't play there if she'd be 100% healthy - just remember that Sydney 2000 and of course this recent quote from her: "I already played at the Olympics in 1996 when I was 15 years old and it felt really strange. PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, Anna doesn't seem to like the Olympic Tennis Tournaments. Personally, I don't understand that. Each Grand Slam you can play every single year but the Olympics are unique because they're just every 4 years!!!! Anna in Peking 2008??? For sure the last chance for her if she wants to!

ESPN Motion Anna
ESPN.com presents a two-part feature called "A Day In The Life Of Anna". Cameras followed Anna when she placed with the Kansas City Explorers (WTT) on July 9th vs the Hartford Fox Force in Avon, Connecticut. Both parts feature behind-the-scenes activities (PR events, news conferences, practises, travel)!
Furthermore, ESPN.com also put a Photogallery online with Anna in action on and off the court while playing WTT last month!

Well, neither at the US nor the UK issue of Maxim Magazine with Anna's 2005 Calendar photos they printed the Interview...! But in the German September 2004 issue of Maxim they did it - read my rough English translation!
Summary: Anna wants to come back but not before she has to worry about her back/body in general. I understand that but hopefully she'll reach the stage once more that her body allows her to practise and compete pro-like

saw BTG: Today I was able to see the Fox Sports Net show "Beyond the Glory" with Anna - thanx very very much to the Webmaster of annatime.com!
Honestly, it made me sad! All these wonderful shots of Anna in her young years as a rising stars, back at Nick Bollettieri's Tennis Academy, Wimbledon 97 but then the injuries, injuries, injuries. At the end Solomon really said that Anna called him a few weeks ago and wanted to hit balls again and see how it feels...! Well, I am really in fear (right now more than normally these days) that she will never be able to play competitive again :-(((((

Anna surprised Gillette winner: Gillette announced the winner of its nationswide "Search for the Completely Irresistible Face" on August 10th - it's 31-year-old Matthew Sherwood! Arthur Ashe Kids' Day 2004 with Anna? / Finally wedding plans?
As in previous years I think all Anna-fans would like to see her at least performing at the Arthur Ashe Kids' Day which once again takes place on saturday just before the US Open! But: With less than 3 weeks left it is more than doubtful that Anna will play again this year!

PERSONAL COMMENT: Honestly, I doubt that Anna will play at the Arthur Ashe Kids' Day 2004! Oh my god - just 1 month ago Anna was asked in Avon (Hartford) where she played World Team Tennis if she'll come back at the US Open this year...! Anna said (quote): "I don't know. I can't tell you if I'm going to play in the U.S. Open. My back is still a little sore. We'll see how I'm doing by the end of next week."
Frustrating - even more because she mentions the reported evaluation after the World Team Tennis season! So far we heard NOTHING, we just see new shopping pics :-(((((

Finally wedding plans?: US Weekly reportedly has new informations from a "source" that Anna had told friends that she and Enrique are finally ready to set a time and place for their wedding! The source reportedly revealed: "Only in the last couple of weeks has she talked about getting married. She's very excited about panning the wedding."

PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, no news and all I want to say is "Who knows beside Anna and Enrique?"

Well, a few days ago I found out that there will be a new WTA TV show sponsored by Dubai Duty Free! As originally posted, the show was supposed to be aired on July 26th on Eurosport - that didn't happen. But as you can see in the Programm section of Eurosport it will be aired on August 5th, 1:00pm CET!
Anna won't be featured unfortunately :-(((

What happened to the Evaluation? / DVD Videostore / VMA 04 with Anna & Enrique?
Remember what Anna said in a News Conference at the 2nd WTT event this year? Quote: "I am probably going to be evaluated after (this week)". Well, Anna's last WTT match took place on July 10th and this is already 3 weeks ago! But did we get any update concerning her injury status since??? No, we didn't! Or didn't we hear anything so far because the evaluation result is very very frustrating? Does anybody know more???

DVD Videostore: Today I decided that the only available medium at my Videostore will be the DVD! After almost 1 year after I launched the DVD Videostore I still haven't completely encoded all old VHS Tapes and re-doing this procedure again with ALL tapes for SVCD- and VCD-versions would take many many more months, if not years!
Plus: Why should someone choose a low-quality VCD instead of a modern DVD???

BUT: If someone really still wants any match on old VHS Tape - email me and I'll see what I can do for you!

VMA 04 with Anna & Enrique?: Personally I think they will attend this year's big MTV event, not because it is held in Miami's American Airlines Arena for the first time ever! Back in 2002 it was a surprise (well, in fact a SHOCK back at that time), last year she also wanted to go to the VMA's but she couldn't because she was busy with her reporter-job for USA Networks! I think we'll see both in Miami on August 29th - regardless that Enrique isn't nominated for anything!

Not really surprising - Anna's name appears in ESPN's "25 biggest sports flops 1979-2004"-list! She has been ranked 18th by their expert panel and 22nd by ESPN.com Sportsnation users.
